Drafting Orlando Brown Jr. would've been a good Draft pick right about now.

We could’ve always used a replacement for Kalil and Williams is gone after this year. So the pick would’ve been easily justifiable at the time and even more so now.

Maybe. Maybe not? We sure aren’t going to know during a preseason game. For any player. Just a little early for these.

Don’t disagree. Still don’t know why any of our picks after Thomas weren’t at least one OL. Crosby and Jamarco Jones are a couple. You can’t expect much that late but I agree we needed to take a shot at one or two.

Yeah man, and these clowns are already crowning Jackson. The Huddle never seems to amaze me at this point.

Idiot logic : calling people clowns for crowning a dude while crowning another dude who he likes but the team didn't pick.

I would have rather grabbed Crosby from Oregon. He went several picks after Haynes and was graded 2nd/3rd round. We could have done without Haynes for a guy who's played well with Detroit. He isn't starting because Detroit has Decker and Wagner, but he'd be very helpful now considering he wouldn't have cost us any of our key rookies like Brown would have. Also, looking good against the Indy D isn't really telling of how someone will play all year. Based on the combine, I'd still be worried about good speed rushers. I can't see how Brown as nonathletic as he is would be able to handle Quinn as easily.

I’ve watched him both games because I was was watching Kerryon Johnson play sand like you was interested in Crosby at that spot. Still not sure why he fell that far but he looked good.

How is it hindsight when he was wanting Orlando Brown before the draft?

Good question.

It’s hindsight by pointing out our current OL situation and also pointing out Browns current starter status.  Wanting Brown predraft and letting everyone know about it is another matter though.  Thanks for pointing this out

That said  it’s not just a hind sight thread, it’s a combination of hind sight and I told you so.

While I'm not going to go an a tantrum because one guy looks good through 2 preseason games I do hope that maybe Tepper can push the issue as this team has neglected OL seemingly forever.

It's really freaking unfortunate what happened to Williams.

Maybe it’s fair to question some of the decisions the team has made, but it’s unfair to say that the team has neglected the OL. Since 2011, the Panthers have selected at least one offensive lineman in each draft except 2016 and 2018. The Panthers have also traded for Oher and Matt Kalil. They’ve also found and developed guys like Remmers, Norwell, Larsen, and it looks like Van Roten and Mahon could be the next pair of success stories.

The truth is, aside from special teams, the linebacker position group, the defensive tackles, and quarterback, every position group has had concerns that needed addressing. For the last three years at least: we’ve needed an injection of youth and talent at d end. We’ve needed speed and athleticism at both corner and safety. We’ve needed youth and depth at tight end. We’ve needed talent and versatility out wide. Before we signed CJ, many huddlers wanted draft capital spent on a back who could run between the tackles. Hell, many of us wanted to draft a backup qb for Cam.

The truth is, the attrition has been unfortunate for the OL this preseason. Before the preseason, the only real question we had was at left guard. Matt Kalil ended the season playing well (Cam Jordan gave him that Speedbump nickname after the playoffs, but Jordan didn’t do most of his damage while lined up against Kalil). Daryl Williams was 2nd team All-Pro, and we had Moton as backup. Trai Turner is the stalwart at right guard. And Kalil is a five-time pro bowler, with Larsen as his backup. It’s only after injuries to Williams, Amini, and Matt that things look a little bleak. But I think we’re in a great position. I mean, it’s unfortunate to lose guys to injury, but most of us wanted to see what we had at left guard aside from Amini anyway. And Van Roten looks like a guy who could potentially be solid. Williams isn’t necessarily gone for the whole year, and his absence has allowed for Moton to get more reps and flash his promise in the mean time (and it could allow for the Panthers to extend Williams for less than we would have this past offseason). We still don’t know what’s going on with Kalil, but if it turns out that the absences from practice are precautionary then we should be in a decent place to begin the regular season. And we might even be thriving on the OL come week eight.

I'm not crowning him, but he's starting while Jackson was backing up Keyvon Seymour the first game. LOLZ. Good try though.

I was fine with a S in the 3rd. A different S but we’ll see how it works out. The pick in hindsight now that I really dislike was Haynes over Tyrell Crosby. Crosby was rated as 2nd/3rd and his best asset is his feet and handling speed rushers. Haynes won’t help us much this year and I want us going DE in next years deep 4-3 DE class.

I liked Crosby too. To be fair, I liked Haynes too and was surprised he was still available, but I liked him as a rush 3-4 OLB. I still question how he'll fit into our defensive scheme.
