Deshaun Watson: 'More accurate, faster, elusive than Cam Newton'

Watson is just alot smaller so it seems like he's faster than Cam because when the biggest guy on the field is lumbering down the field you can't always tell he's also among the fastest guys on the field. Cam is a unique player who may never be replicated but I agree its somewhat flattering for every mobile black QB that comes into the league to be compared to him.  And I'm a Watson fan and think the guy has MVP potential if he can stay healthy, but it will be with his arm not his legs.

EVERY QB is often disrespected.

It's the way the media works

That’s not even close to true. The media picks a few they want to disrespect and a few they want to idolize. The ones they want to disrespect are discussed in a negative light and even when their skill is undeniable they throw backhanded compliments and add qualifiers. The ones they want to idolize are discussed in a positive light and even when they’re ***** up they make excuses and talk about how they’ll improve or how they’re actually playing well when it doesn’t look like it.

Can't be more accurate, faster, and more elusive than Cam Newton if you aren't on the field. Dude started a whopping 6 games last year. Already missed more games in his rookie season than Cam has in his entire 7 year career. Everyone needs to take it easy on the Deshaun Watson hype.

I like Watson but you are correct.

I haven't seen enough of Watson to make what I would consider an informed comparison, but I'll say this.

Football analysts, even good ones (Theismann isn't) all too often get captivated by the "shiny new toys".

That, and Watson has already been anointed. Cam had to fight for respect every step of the way.

Watson has been impressive is his limited action, but any statement saying he is better than any proven veteran QB, is just asinine.

this kinda irks me now.. I feel like these journalists/commentators could be a lot more imaginative with their comparisons. Why compare every new upcoming black QB to Cam? Aren't there other QBs that were closer to Watson's size than Cam?

Watson also was inserted into a team with a healthy amount of offensive talent. What the hell did Cam have in his rookie year? An aging steve smith? Who else?

I dont give a flip what Watson does until he shows he can play multiple seasons and bring his team to the playoffs 4 out of 5 season, wins rookie of the year, AND wins a MVP .

Oh wait he cant win ROTY.

Ahhh who cares.

Watson seems like a good dude...and he was having a great year on an average team.  Time will tell what kind of QB he really is.  RG3 looked amazing his rookie season too.

the same average team that went to the playoffs multiple times before he got there? ermmmm
