It all comes down to value for me. I just had to address LG's comments. I mean, I understand if people don't want Reid for obvious reasons, but he's probably a top 15 safety in the league. He's a better run stopper than coverage guy, but he's not chopped liver there either. He's overall been pretty good, even exceptional at times, and his best years may be ahead of him if he ever gets back on the field. But don't tell.me that Iloka is better or even had the upside that Reid had when each guy first entered the league because it's just not true. There is really no question about it.

Just making sure that you know I was agreeing with everything you said. Even in this post I hadn’t seen yet. Wish I had. Could have just said “yep”...LoL

Upside when entering the league is irrelevant when discussing vets. Iloka is the better NFL player, period. He'll be signed soon.

Oh yeah, I know.

I'm with you about praying that Gaulden  is the answer sooner rather than later.

Reid has been better and is better. It's that simple. Not one professional NFL analyst anywhere will say differently.

I would like to think a trade for one of our back up RB's is in the works or soon will be.  We could pick up  an o lineman ( preferably tackle) or safety. Granted the value might not be there for a straight up trade but package it with a late round pick like Marty has done before you never know.  When you have teams like the Redskins bringing in 33 yo guys like Adrian Peterson for a work out it is quite possible.

If we AT LEAST don't show interest, then I'm going to be highly pissed. It would be Ron and Hurney basically saying "We are content with who we have". This guy is better than ANYONE we have right now, and is still only 28.

If Ron and Hurney could look Tepper in the eye and say they are content with who we have at safety, they should be relieved immediately.  I understand we may not actually sign him for a variety of reasons, but they better be inquiring on every legit safety and any OT that has a pulse in the NFL.

Rivera really REALLY values LBs on his defenses that are good to very good in coverage.

That being the case, he correspondingly DE-values the safety position in his defenses.  If he feels situations require more coverage deep, he’d prefer to bring in nickels and dimes.

I think the fact that Rivera values the safety position at the bottom of the defensive totem pole has been proven out for 7+ seasons now.

Maybe we should just sign this guy.

He'd probably be cheaper.

Special teams potential.  And he is allowed to carry a gun which will scare the hell out of anyone on the other team.  Well anyone with sense
