Greg Van Roten looked good at LG... such as...

Yeah, he did well. My problem with this is, if Kalil starts the season at C, are we really gonna leave Larsen on the bench just because we're afraid of him getting hurt? I mean, Van Roten did pretty good, but I still think Larsen is the better lineman. I think we should put the best 5 linemen out there.

I agree, but with injuries I think it's important to have a heavy rotation and I expect Larsen to provide that at center and both guard positions.  He wont "start", but hell have starter number of snaps.

If what you claim is true, it makes no sense that Van Roten gets the guard spot and Larsen rotates in. Their roles should be reversed. After all, in your scenario, Larsen has no less chance of injury than if their roles were reversed, so there's no benefit to putting your second best guard option on the field to start the game. The only way this does make sense is if the coaches actually think Van Roten is better at the guard position than Larsen.

Question for you football gurus.  I played college baseball so I don’t kanow the intricacies of the trenches.  How will him only being 305 lbs translate at guard?  I’m sure he would be better at pulling because of that weight and a little worse in pass protection.

Anybody like to school me?
