Thoughts on Trading Funchess?

No way, funch is the only receiver proven to be able to be a number 1 (although, pretty sure DJ Moore will be that man).  That said, you let him play out this year, and let him walk.  Receivers with his skillset and age are demanding massive contracts we cant afford, and it's ok with the depth we have behind him.  Dont make the j-no mistake twice, from the youngsters behind him and move on in the offseason

I did not say, infer, and/or imply that it was either a crime or unusual. Of course, that is why he failed his physical.

Personally, I believe the Panthers need an upgrade and I would never completely close a door to any player. My statement was simply an indication of my belief that available albeit incomplete information would lead me to believe he is not a viable option and that the fact that he remains unsigned is strong evidence that the Panthers made the right decision when they voided his contract.

It may have been "right" at the time, but we sure could use him now. And I still say that it's not a stretch to say that perhaps Hurney's decision was hasty. Was it wrong? No. Was it perhaps a little hasty in retrospect? Perhaps. The reason that he is not an option now apparently has little to do, if anything,  with his original injury. As some in the know have essentially said, the problem is that Breeland got pissed when we voided his contract. He has at least one confirmed offer since the spring (from the Chiefs), so that further leads me to believe that he is fully healed now.

Dez would do a better job in Devin’s role than Devin will. That’s also acknowledging the fact that Bryant’s play isn’t near what it used to be.

Nope, not at all. Dez gets worse separation and runs worse routes. Having Dez would be like keep Kelvin. There's a reason it's August and teams have elected not to sign Dez. Only thing I'd say Dez can do better than Funchess is jump balls but that's it.

Yep, but that reason is because Dez's diva bullshit is no longer worth what he brings to the table as a player. I wouldn't want him.

I like Funchess. He showed that he's a legit starting NFL WR last season. BUT, I'd trade him for a legit starting caliber CB. Right now. Without hesitation. Someone is going to give him $10-12M per year in free agency next year, if not more. I hope that isn't us.

Every time we establish solid depth there’s talks of trade.. it’s rather idiotic..

Because in a salary cap league, it is “idiotic” to have an embarrassment of riches at one position, while entire units (secondary & o-line) are wholly underwhelming.
