Thoughts on Trading Funchess?

Breeland is still unsigned though. Seems like a waste on both parties' parts. I don't know specifically what happened  but can anything but an outright lie be that egregious?

Marty may have jumped the gun. Cockrell's injury has bitten us in the ass, and so he needs to work something more out.

The fact that he is still unsigned is highly instructive. He is either overvaluing his value and/or the healing issue still remains. In truth, it is also a sign that the Panthers did the right thing when they determined that he failed his physical and voided the contract.

I would actually consider trading Mayo and a 6th or 7th for a decent CB and I think we could pull it off. Extend TD another year and keep Carter, Norris, and Jacobs or Smith. We have talented LBs for days and it's time we start using them for more than just ST. A 7th or 6th wouldn't impact our draft much either.

No. However I think it would be easier to replace Funchess' production if he were to just disappear than to get a CB or OT/OG.

Dez would accept the minimum and can be at least 80% of what Funchess provides. Jeremy Maclin, Dontrelle Inman also but on a poorer scale.

Dez would do a better job in Devin’s role than Devin will. That’s also acknowledging the fact that Bryant’s play isn’t near what it used to be.

If he is overvaluing his worth, that's not a crime, and it's not unique. He failed his physical because he wasn't ready at the time. He has had an offer or two since then.

I did not say, infer, and/or imply that it was either a crime or unusual. Of course, that is why he failed his physical.

Personally, I believe the Panthers need an upgrade and I would never completely close a door to any player. My statement was simply an indication of my belief that available albeit incomplete information would lead me to believe he is not a viable option and that the fact that he remains unsigned is strong evidence that the Panthers made the right decision when they voided his contract.

Bryant is also almost 30 and is a diva. Funch is 24 and showed the passion to fight through injuries late last season. I know who I'd want.

I think at this point you look at packaging him with a later draft pick for someone else.

Right now i dont see him being resigned

Thise who say why get rid of our only proven guy.  Funchess is still unproven and still nowhere lived up to the hype

He only had 840 yards last year, in his best season here

The other 2 seasons

2016: 371 yards

2015: 473 yards (120 came in the last game of the season)

We expected him to come in and look like The man this year as the senior WR IN a Contract year.  But you havnt.

Donte Jackson who everyone has been hyping up because camp.  Weve only seen 2 things out of him.  Getting beat by Smith and Moore.

BUT if you notice, the  Only positive camp tweets youve seen on him are breakups on Funchess

Right now Wright, Smith, and Moore are your Top 3 WRs.

With needs on the secondary, OL, and backup QB

You most definitely cut ties with him.

Sucks because I do like him and he does have potential (though he has also for 3 seasons but havnt done anything with it yet).

But you have to make moves like that to win

Dez had ankle and knee issues last season, didn’t miss a game.

If you honestly think that all guys playing on Sundays are a 100% healthy then this discussion is over.

Obviously players aren't 100% on Sunday. I'm talking about the fact that he had to come out of the game while his arm hung limp at his side, only to come back in a few plays later for a clutch catch.

Because like KB, he can't create separation.

I wouldn't be in a rush to trade him but if the right offer came along for immediate help in the secondary I'd pull the trigger.

I wouldn't say that. There are routes he's good at and there were some he's not built for. You won't see KB on any WR screens I can tell you that lol! Should he be the hot route on down the field throws? Depends on the formation but he makes a good/great #2. I just wish RR wouldn't crown a guy the #1 WR just because he was here longer. Samuel/Moore have more of the makings of a #1. Funchess is a great #2 and I wouldn't be quick to get rid of him or Smith for any price. Lord knows we don't need another situation like last season.
