Name a more impressive Panthers rookie WR than DJ Moore

He didn’t. I don’t like him, but I looked that up and it wasn’t true. All WRs get some garbage time stats, it’s the nature of protecting a lead or trying to come back. That, however, was a myth. He had a lot of good games in close losses or wins. It’s the nature of this message board to take posts at face value and post the same message again and again.

I don’t like KB at all anymore, he’s a douche, but any rookie WR with 1000 yards and 9 TDs had a great season. As much as people want to say Cam played better without him, that season was also highlighted by a solid OL that was basically healthy all year and a defense that lead the league in turnovers by a wide margin (one per game more than average). We missed KB in the Super Bowl. He was very effective against Denver week 1 (6-90 1TD). We also missed him in last year’s playoff. I’m happier without him now with the guys we had, but I would have loved to have him in those two games.

There were a few games that he got chunks of yards and TDs well after the game was decided, Philly, Pitt, and GB that come to mind. Regardless, he up to this point has been the best Panthers rookie WR, easily.

Steve Smith wasn't that impressive as a rookie, not at receiver anyway.

Actually, he was damn impressive...  sure, he wasn't refined as a receiver as a rookie, but when he got the ball in his hands, he was ELECTRIC.  He made everyone else on the field look like they were running at half speed.  We knew he was special, even when he was primarily a returner that first year.

And in regards to Jeremy's prompt, I have to say, for the reasons above, he is the most impressive since Smitty...  there isn't another Panthers rookie WR who has shown the promise he has with the ball in his hands since Smitty.

It is early, but Moore looked like the best athlete on the field yesterday. Interestingly, the second best athlete appeared to be Samuel. To call it encouraging would be a massive understatement.

While I mostly agree with you, I wouldn't sell Samuel as a lesser threat at this moment. He may be just as potent if given the opportunity.

I would say that Moore looks like the tougher receiver and looks to be everything as advertised in the YAC department---has good speed---but Samuel looks quicker than everyone else on the field, and he is faster than Moore.

Don't get me wrong, overall Moore appears to be a more complete receiver due to his size, toughness and hands, but Samuel is a very explosive athlete.
