Honestly, Christian McCaffrey looks solid out there

I’m excited for the entire offense, should be fun to watch. Our defense on the other hand, we may need to drop 30 bombs every Sunday.

Our defense played like you'd expect a team that has been churning through defensive coordinators to do. Coverages were blown, nobody wrapped up tackles on first contact and the other team was able to march up and down the field pretty much at will.

I'm hoping that some folks are getting chewed out this week and they'll show a bit more spine. From first string to third string, it looked like a mix of guys who didn't deserve to be out there and a bunch of guys trying not to get hurt. Of course, that is kind of the whole pre-season vibe, I guess. But c'mon, take some pride in your work.

but seriously, Norv is going to use him in ways Mike Shula never dreamt of

In that first stalled series, he ran him two times up the gut into a wall of blockers.  The second one, Cmac tries to go over, and ends up fumbling the ball.  On third down,  the throw to Moore was tipped, but Moore was nowhere near the marker and would have had to run the gambit for 7+ yards to make a first down.  It was a horrible series.  I felt like Shula was calling the plays.

It was similar except Cam did roll-out his first play, but what Norv can do that Shula can't is adjust and that's what we did the next drive. We got CMC on a 1-1 and I think it went like 20

I keep telling myself it's preseason.  Its just, the starters will only get a couple series in the preseason games and I just want them to stuff em.

I agree, the second series was like night and day better.  Cam though I think overthrew Olson once on each series.  It wasn't his best night.

I don’t think CJ is a B plan— I think it’s more like DWill and Stewart where it’s A1 and A2.

CJ blocks great, need that on the field and maybe we see him more than everyone thinks— our offensive line sucks, case in point.

thats one of the main reasons Stewart stayed around longer than people liked— we needed the extra pass protection.

we saw CJ close out some good games in denver and saw CMac doing some good Marshall Faulk impersonations.

Then with Hood back there, we are better now than at the height of Double Trouble,..

The first game also looks like that because of the CBA. Offenses always look better because they are allowed to practice at almost game speed while defense is holding up. If it were pre game 3 sure but not pre game 1.

Also the new tackling rule has a bunch to do with that. Just trying to not hit a RB lowering his head is difficult.
