As someone else pointed out, Worley at least could tackle and was decent in run defense. If Seymour did anything to show he could tackle last night, I missed it.

And while I realize some people are pointing to the lack of game planning, you don't need a game plan to just cover somebody one on one. Seymour got beaten...badly...including at least once by a receiver that nobody is gonna confuse with a track star.

Bottom Line: That was about as horrible a performance as I've seen from a corner in quite some time.

It was just baffling how his 4.3 speed sure didn't translate. He was behind all the receivers all night.  Man I miss Cockrell already.

Yeah, that would probably be the closest comp, but I don't even recall a team throwing at him almost every pass for 2 series in a row.  It was painful to watch.

There was a game against the Saints near the end of the half Brees threw at him like 6 times in a row for 85 yards, with all of them completions or PI, then he got benched. Not long after that he was cut.

Most players make their biggest progress between week 1 and 2. I think that Buffalo game planned for us which we didn't do for them. In fact, several starters didn't even play. Do you think Bradberry is going to be on Benjamin or Seymour in the regular season. He is fighting for a roster spot at this time and wont be filling that #2 corner unless he wakes up transformed with better awareness of what he should be doing. I liked Doss in the little time he was in. I would like to see more of him and more Jackson. You need reps to improve. Then again that is why Seymour is going to get more reps. Hopefully we find the second corner by New England so we can have a real test.

Norv Turner was definitely a winner. The offense has never looked this crisp early in the preseason. You can tell he's been coaching the third teamers as hard as the starters and the players are all responding to him. There was an ....... enthusiasm to the offense that I haven't seen since 2015. These guys are excited to be playing for Norv!

Didn’t get to see the game, was hoping to hear that Haynes had a good game... anyone know?

He got one sack in the 4th quarter I think on a 2 point conversion attempt. Other than that I don't think he anything was out of this world.

Mixon has met Tepper and it sounded like it went pretty well.

Wouldn't look for any changes on that front.

IMO Mick will have this last season and he is off the airwaves.  He's a nice enough guy and I he is most likely competent in producing the show,  he's just BAD as a sports play by play guy.  I think Tep will give him a job as executive producer or something and move someone else into his spot or outright can him.  He is certainly as bad at his job or worse, than Marty Hurney is at his.  And you can't tell us enough how unqualified MH is.

That was a broken play sack. Not a 2 pt play and Allen gets rid of the ball. Honestly, I thought he looked rough. He got manhandled on two longer runs and it was clear that outside of a speed rush, he’s going to have a tough time. He’s not a 3 down DE. He will be a huge liability against the run. If I was the OC and wanted to run, I would go at him every play.

I truly hope they don’t try to make him an every down DE. He should only play in obvious passing situations. He puts on weight and he’ll lose the one thing he’s very good at. He can be a weapon for 15 snaps a game. And if he proves effective, that could go up next year when Pep is gone. But he will always be a liability against the run.

1st string oline?

Speedbump McGee.

The funny thing is some people actually believe he was at any point in time "injured" last year.... He's garbage. He was garbage in Minnesota as well, not gonna change just cuz he's with his brother

I still haven't watched the game on rewind, did Corn Elder even play? How was he if he did? And how did Odaba do?

Corn Elder did ok (maybe Seymour's ineptness made the rest of the db's look good).

I did not notice Obada.

He should be playing OLB in a 3-4 like Carl Lawson did last year with Cincinnati and not playing as a situational rush DE in a 4-3 40 lbs under ideal size.

He will continue to amaze in shorts and shells, but when NFL OTs and TEs and (in the backfield) RB/FBs block him, he's not going to cut it.

P.S. Carlton Davis looked like a boss with Tampa in their first pre-season game and all the TB sites say he's pretty much an odds-on starter already.  He was chosen 8 picks after Donte Jackson.

Also, Hurney should call up the Washington GM and see if he could get any value in trading them CAP now that the RB (Guice) that they drafted went down with an ACL and the #1 guy on their depth chart is 5-8/195 Chris Thompson.

This would be beneficial to both the Panthers and CAP because (1) the Panthers would be rid of a running back for which the head coach and the fanbase have utter disrespect and maybe get a draft choice at least equal to or better than the 5th round choice that was used on him and (2) CAP might finally get a fair shot under a new head coach which he has never gotten nor will he ever get under the current Panthers head coach.

Would be a win-win.

    • This was his first season playing where he was healthy. I have never seen anyone be given more chances to get healthy than this guy. I don't know what contract he will get, but someone will be gambling that he will be available. If he could be had for back-up guard money, I'd go for him quickly, and use him situationally as an extra tight end. If he can't be, that's fine. In my fantasy scenario, we have completely remade our offense under a new and improved Bryce with an Offensive Coordinator (Canales) who finally figured out how to run the offense later in the year.  I can dream. And all of my dreams have been wrong. We will not get Warren, Skattebo, or Becton, and all three will be major contributors wherever they go.
    • He seems to be able to handle FA signings pretty well, but the draft is where a GM makes or breaks a team and the results are inconclusive at the moment.
    • There’s also a big difference between our starters and most other teams. We’ve been bottom of the barrel since second half of 2018. Drafting a “starter” here is a lot easier than drafting a starter in KC so your stat, while true, doesn’t indicate that we are draft less starters each draft and we aren’t getting impact guys outside Brown and 50% of an impact guy in Horn. After round 1, since 2018, Chubba is literally the only impact starter in 7 drafts. Thats horrific drafting and it’s why we’ve spent $270M on 2 guards, 2 DTs and 1 safety. People go to the SB when they spend that on their franchise QB, not on guards, DTs and safeties. I hope they all make the team better but overpaying positions we should be drafting and developing on the cheap is not the best way to build a contender.
