Preseason Week 1: Winners and Losers

Winners:

*DJ Moore - Great first showing, and lived up to the billing...  but am looking forward to when Norv actually gameplans ways to get the ball in his hands consistently when the reg. season starts.  He is going to be fun.

*1st String OL - Great job in both pass and run pro.  Really cohesive showing.

*Ian Thomas - He looks the part.  Already seems to find open spots better than Dickson.  I'm excited to see the role he plays this season and how he develops beyond.

*CMC- Same impressive elusiveness and ability to create separation and move the chains.  Definitely appeared to show that one-cut decisiveness that Jeremy has been speaking about.

*Mose Frazier - Great catch.  Showed flashes last PS, and is an afterthought for the final 53, but he just won't go away.

*CJ Anderson - Not sure why he's running behind CAP still, but he just gets yards.  He makes his decision and runs low and hard, as we saw him do and Denver.  He is going to be great in his role here.

*Daeshon Hall/Jermaine Carter - Both occasionally flashed somd great get off in the rush and really pressured the QB.

*Curtis Samuel - Looked amazing, and I actually thought showed the most of anyone on the roster tonight.  Great routes, great hands, great quickness and moves after the catch...  only bothered that he still looks so slight/lean, and that concerns me about his durability, but as long as he's able to avoid contact like he did tonight, it won't matter.  Great showing.

Losers:

*Kelvin Benjamin - Tonight was your Super Bowl, saddlebags.  Go fug yourself.

*Clete Blakeman - Still a Broncos fan and forever a bitch.

*The fans KB plowed into in the stands after his TD - Someone check on them, i believe a hippopotamus may have charged into them, unprovoked, and collapsed their lungs and turned their ribs to powder upon impact.

*Kevon Seymour - The fact he is listed after the preceding three losers says it all.  That was possibly the WORST showing for a DB on our roster, ever.  And that's saying a lot after being force-fed Worley the last couple of years.  I don't immediately recall any DB we've ever fielded getting picked on like that...  and thst includes Godfrey and Nakamura.  DAMN.

*1st/2nd/3rd String Defenses Collectively - Whew.  Bills moved the ball at will until Allen came in.  Was really disappointed in their overall effort, but know we'll be fine moving forward...  McD knows us inside and out, so i dont expect anyone else to attack us like he did.

Overall, solid showing and a lot to be excited about.  I've felt this is the best roster we've had since Cam and Luke have been here, and can't wait to see us progress.

And oh yeah, KB is a fat bitch.

I'd add Elijah Hood to the winner's list. I think CAP was running ahead of Anderson because CJ is a lock to make the roster. CAP was given an opportunity to show something and per usual, he didn't show much. Hood ran hard as hell when he had a chance, got us a gifted 1st down with a penalty because he refused to go down, and showed some soft hands to boot. Hoping to see CAP and Hood's roles reversed next week. Hood earned an opportunity to show what he can do in that spot IMO.

Only thing I would add is Shaq to the positives.  Continuing his streak of impressive INTs from Spartanburg to preseason field.  I expect big things in Davis’ absence.

Might even add the 3rd string QB.  He did some good things too.

1st string oline?

Speedbump McGee.

Did you watch both of the first string series?  Even this play was a qelcome change for Kalil...  he didn't incur a penalty and he at least impeded Hughes enough to give Cam time to sense it and move.  There was one play in particular that they got a good jump on both ends and both tackles engaged and rode them past Cam away from the pocket.

We're down two starters (although Amini shouldn't have been one), so yes, they were very impressive.  And believe me, if Kalil slipped up, I'd be the first to point it out.

Dang, just saw the clip. He CRUSHED those folks, hard.

There's going to be some bruises, Mabel.

Brees would've died.

That's why we don't pay terrible tackles $11 million a year.

I didn't watch any of it. Just saw some clips on the Twitterverse.

Just thought it was funny lol.

Yeah, good point.  Hood looked good, but I'd like to see what he could do in the run game with the 1st string line...  I've kind of been over CAP, so why not see if a younger, hard-nosed guy could unseat him?  So, I'm with you...  i hope he gets CAP's role next week.
