Well, do we need a back up QB?

I'd still like to get Bridgewater or RG3. Heinicke would be a good PS QB.

Both were better than I expected them to be. I had been fairly comfortable with the idea of Gilbert as QB2 and he played like a steady back up should. I have confidence he could come in and hold down the fort the remainder of a game if it came down to it. He made the passes, his reads were pretty good and he didn't seem nervous out there.

Heineke, on the other hand, was good enough to make me wonder if he might not be the better choice. He was up against Buffalo's third stringers, but he was also working with ours (except for DJ Moore). He had some upside to him and really did make me think he could be called on to still run pretty much the gameplan that would have been drawn up for Cam. (Nowhere near as well, but that's still a good skill set).

I'm torn between the two, but I wouldn't feel bad about either one of them being on the sidelines.

Wouldn't be the huddle without widespread panic and conclusion jumping.

He completed 77% of his passes.

Cam has never looks himself in preseason games. I actually thought he looked better in his second drive than he usually does in preseason.

Fwiw, the combined numbers for the backups were 14 of 21 for 210 plus yards, with two td's and no int's.  Even if it is preseason, can't really ask for better than that

I didn't think the backup QBs looked as bad considering how bad the 1st string offense looked.  

We need Oline help first and we are so near the cap.
