Question about D. Williams Contract Ext. Offer

So I am wondering if anyone has any experience or insider info on this.

With DW going down with injury, did/does/do the panthers pull the offer? Is it still standing?

and if he comes back and plays well, do we offer the same thing or up the price?

I am just having some couch thoughts about this.

I doubt the original offer is still on the table. Talks probably won’t resume until this offseason

I am curious about this bc OBJ's worth has gone bc of his injury - and he is arguably better than 95% of the receivers in the league. Sources say that the giants dont view him to be worth the Sammy Watkins contract.

Does that mean DW isnt worth the 40 mil we offereD?

I never saw anything that proved we have offered him a contract. Last u read on the subject, they were comfortable with him playing out his final year.

His value depends on whether he opens on the free agent market, because he will be the best RT on the market. Some team will most likely want to try him and left tackle, so he'll get paid Irregardless of his injury.

If the Panthers try to retain him, they'll make an offer to him before he becomes a free agent.

If he doesn't play this year I don't think he'd get a ton on the open market. 1 good year and then an injury doesn't get a guy paid a lot. He'll be best off doing a 1 year prove it deal which will probably be here. All that changes if he comes back this year.

After doing a lil googling to refresh my memory I don’t think we ever even had an offer on the table as initial talks reportedly had a “monster gap” between his agents and Hurney on his worth.

His  future value to us will be dictated by how Moton fills in at RT in his absence and if he can bounce back this year and reclaim his starting job.

If Moton plays well this year there is no reason to re-sign Williams. That money would be much better spent finding a good LT, or saving it for Cam's extension

If Williams' price tag comes way down, or he wants a 1 year prove it deal, I'm all in on keeping him.  (not what he thinks he's worth by the way)

If he's the best available RT on the market, there will be no shortage of bidders. Might be a short contract, but probably not likely.

Giants are smoking crack if they think that.
