Cam Newton went 11-5 last year and had a terrific playoff game capped off by a perfect Hail Mary pass that should have been caught for the W

Now we know what he can do. He's a solid possession guy, can get open against zone, run solid routes and get yards when he can. He's a vital part of our offense and with the team around him, hopefully we won't have to try him deep as often. Let's also hope he's improved when he is tried.

“Run solid routes”

Yep, I’m going back and forth with a blind person. Funchess has a limited route tree, like all of our WR’s sadly. I’ll never understand what this organization has against WR’s who can run the entire route tree. The routes Funchess does run well, he runs good.

Funchess is a very frustrating player. That’s who he is. He has the size (which he doesn’t know how to properly use) and athleticism (that he puts on display seldomly) - he has all the tools to be really good but he just doesn’t have “it”. He honestly could be THAT guy and that’s what’s frustrating. He is who he is at this point, if you’re going to trot him out there as your 1A you better have a 1B to pair him with. Let’s hope Torrey plans on turning back the clock this season.

And that “one play” didn’t change the way I felt about Funchess, it only further proved what I already thought of him. But score one for the blind, I suppose...

*edit: and I actually specifically mentioned what that kollerman guy had said in that thread with that video because it’s something I’ve said before.
