Cam Newton went 11-5 last year and had a terrific playoff game capped off by a perfect Hail Mary pass that should have been caught for the W

Just for the record, it was 3 weeks in a row that they completely fugged up the coverage. Tampa did the same thing in week 17.

Also, if we're talking hypotheticals, he threw what should have been a pick right before the hail mary.

To me looks like funchess should have caught that one. If he uses 2 hands but the shoulder limited him there.

1 Play = / = career underpreformer.

As I mentioned before, we’re talking about a lot more than 1 play. By now if you can’t see for yourself that Funchess isn’t a good deep ball WR, there’s no point in trying to help you understand.

At the end of the day that was the point of my post. I’ve said before and it costed us big time in a big game. As long as people keep making excuses for him, he’ll just keep hurting us in the long run.

The Saints secondary completely broke down on the final desperation play of the game just like they did the following week. He had single coverage. The point of this thread though isn't to poo on Devin Funchess, but to praise Cam Newton.

also they broke down the week before as well and winston threw a bomb dime to win. Such a wild week 17. we got fuged in terms of seeding.

You do realize we beat them in Foxboro last year, no?

of course bud, you do realize Brady threw for 500 yards on a defense that was statistically better than ours, we probably would have had to score on every single possession if we wanted a chance. Also that game in foxboro was with KB, healthy Funchess, Byrd(broke his arm that day) and Samuel. In the superbowl we would have had 1 arm Funchess, Bersin and Clay. I also hate to think of what BB would have though up on the defensive side with two weeks of prep and actual game film from earlier that season.

I'm just going to say something a lot of us have been thinking (this game is a very poor example because he was injured) but I'm worried about Funch's ability to consistently win contested catches. Not sure if he is number one WR material.

i've never called Funchess our deep ball guy.

However I just saw you mentioned the Jets play too so my mistake on that, you're golding a grudge over two plays and something you heard from a Brett Kollerman video

But no, Funchess isn't a deep guy, sure he can win 1-on-1s sometimes, but that's not what you routinely want him doing. But you also seem to forget that our receiving core last year for huge chunks of time was Devin, CMac, and the elite core of Russel Sheppard, Ed Dickson, and Kaelin Clay. We had to ask Devin to do a lot, which also helped us figure out his strengths and weaknesses.

Now we know what he can do. He's a solid possession guy, can get open against zone, run solid routes and get yards when he can. He's a vital part of our offense and with the team around him, hopefully we won't have to try him deep as often. Let's also hope he's improved when he is tried.

But no, you still hate him. Even going so far as to make up reasons that he's gonna fail.

"I’ve never seen a WR get such a career pass the way Funchess has dating back to his Michigan days." he played TE until his final year at Michigan and he was hated for a better chunk of two seasons here.

"Funchess has also been really quiet going against a terrible secondary this camp. Funchess isn’t a “gamer” so you’d like to see him at least put on a show at camp but he’s not doing that."  Like last season where he dominated camp.

Lol dude deny it all you want you're just bitter as fug from that One Play.
