Greg Olsen most yards receiving in TEs currently playing.  Top ten all time in yards, TDs and receptions.

Should be a hall of fame TE if he keeps it up for a few more years.  Maybe even if he retired now.

I keep hearing that all the time. What does he do that well? I swear that I never see him doing anything on special teams. I know he isn’t a returner, he isn’t a blocker and he hasn’t blocked kicks like Butler.

According to this link: https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/player-stat/special-teams-category

He hasn’t been in the top 100 of special teams tackles the past 3 years like Mayo (twice), Shepard, Webb, Klein, Teddy Williams, Jacobs and Boston have been.

So what does Colin Jones do on special teams that is that special?

If you hear it all the time apparently it must be true. Tackles like sacks don't always tell the whole story apparently.  Contrary to your usual opinion I think the coaches know what they are doing and follow the numbers and make their decisions based on film and practice.  So if they say he does well at special teams I don't assume that I know better or try to blame it on blind loyalty.

Oh geez, the canned repose that the coaches are always right. You can’t even respond to my one question. Tackles were also just one of my points. I listed everything he doesn’t do that makes people valuable on special teams.

Maybe the story of Colin Jones being a great special teams player is just people like you regurgitating why he’s on the roster. If it’s posted enough other people use it as their proof. There’s tons of that on this site and in this case it seems like it’s an excuse people seem to make as to why he’s still on the roster.

If you can’t tell me one thing he does well and I can’t ever remember a game where someone said something about a great Colin Jones special teams play, then maybe it is a myth. Snopes wouldn’t exist if there weren’t myths spread like this.

So.let me get this right. He is only good at special teams because fans like me reiterate what the experts are saying about him like his head coach who see him in practice and watch film. He really sucks but somehow Rivera keeps him on, due to loyalty and apparently poor judgement in evaluating players. So all of the positive things are actually urban legends and myths.

But you know better despite not having  watched practice and seeing them every day or even having played football or coached at a high level.

Hard to believe you would use innuendo as a reason he is deemed good when all you have is your own nonprofessional opinion and then shape your argument to fit your already made up mind.  While the coaches may not always be right, I trust folks who jobs depend on how well they evaluate and manage players over a fan who is only peripherally involved on a message board and has no expertise in the area. And no your own eyes and opinion are not more objective and eyewitness testmony has been proven to be one of the least accurate methods of observation.

Nope. I just said that in 2018, I don’t remember him being a special teams ace anymore. That video was 2013. His last time being in the top 100 for special teams tackles was 2012. You just saying he’s special doesn’t mean he is anymore. Make sense?

So the coaches who this training camp said his job was secure and who have watched him every day don't know what they are talking about but you who hasn't seen him this year and posted a link from the past know more about how he will do this year than the coaches.

Of course that doesn't make sense and neither does your logic.

SMH. I said I don’t recall him doing much recently. The only proof provided is a 5 year old video with one good play and one where he fell down on a 10 yard return.

Instead of giving me anything you’ve noticed you are just repeating the special teams angle. He’s a backup safety now (and not a good one IMHO), but I don’t see him being a special teams ace and that’s what you said. All you argue is that the coaches have him on the 53 so he must be amazing and I couldn’t possibly think that he isn’t a special teams guru like you asserted. You’ve given me nothing to prove your assertion that he’s special on special teams.

I think you have it backwards. The coaches said he was doing great and was valuable because of special teams. You argued and said he wasn't. So why should I have to prove anything. You are the one that said he was no good which is different from what the coaches have said. Again since they watch practice and are the experts, the burden of proof is on you to prove them wrong which you tried using old data and failed. So if you are going to say he sucks,  the burden is on you to prove it not the other way around. Otherwise you have no credibility and are just a biased complainer with no evidence to back your views. So unless you have evidence supporting your allegations we are done. After all the experts have disagreed with you. Prove them wrong.

Lol. I did provide my proof in my first response. You were the one that said it didn’t count. In 2012 Colin Jones was 26th in total special teams tackles. After that he never cracked the top 100, but several other Panthers have. He doesn’t return kicks or punts. He’s never blocked  kicks and I don’t see him blocking. He’s been a gunner and being special there is tackles. Simple as that. There’s my proof. Please refute because I don’t ever remember thinking the past few years that Colin Jones was good at special teams. Heck, I don’t recall him much at gunner anymore.

And again tackles don't equate to value in special teamers so that stat is irrelevant. Again that is directly refuted by the coaches so why keep bringing it up as a golden standard or proof of anything. For example fast gunners on the outside funnel the play to the inside so they might not.lwad in tackles but that isn't their job. But honestly I am wasting my time. You will argue whether you have an argument or not. So again if he is so bad then why do coaches applaud his special teams work. Seems to me you should be arguing with them. I just listen to the experts. So again tell me what you have seen that tells me he shouldn't have a roster position in 2018. Make it more convincing than so far and revelant to 2018, not last year or further in the past. Otherwise let's wait until they play to make judgements. Preasonson hasn't started so all we have is the coaches evaluation.
