Andre Smith over Carter.....a few comments in camp got me feeling like we may have gotten lucky here.  I think Smith was injured last year, leading to him dropping to the 7th, where I love to take a flyer on this kind of guy.  If the coaches think he's outplayed our 5th rounder Carter, then we may be on to something.

and we deserve it.

Interesting.  I did not get to see Smith at Fan fest. But Carter looked good. Quick and good range and cover skills.  If those 2 pan out a roster depth this draft was a home run!!

Do we actually have the cap space to sign a free agent guard who's that much higher quality than Silatolu?

Granted, we can make cuts too. But it's likely anyone who'd clear enough room to make a real dent is someone we may not wanna lose.

How ever you spin it we are probably stuck with Amini. It's another reason I don't like the Hurney Rivera combo. They both favor the known over the unknown. We should have cut R. Kalil and kept or brought in a starting guard. It's crystal clear no one really believes Ryan is going to make it through a whole season so why is he here?

Has Kendrick Norton looked overmatched? Based on watching him at Miami, I think he’d be difficult to stash on the practice squad.

I’ve heard good things about Carter and really liked the pick. I hope we can find a spot for him.

Haven't heard much about Norton this spring. He hustled his ass off at Fan fest. Even made a play on the sideline.

It's too early to freak out over the possibility of Amini starting.  We haven't even played one preseason game yet, so none of these guys have had much of a chance to move around on the roster.

I think that behind closed doors, they were penciling in Moton at LG (regardless of what they were saying publicly), but Williams' injury was a huge monkey wrench to that plan, and a bigger deal than they will say publicly.  So now, they're likely going to see how each guy looks in preseason before making any decision.  And to be honest, I really don't think it will be Amini, and never have.

I think they actually set it up for him not to start, so if he does, it will have more to do with the other guys not stepping up than any sense of loyalty Rivera (who doesn't make the decision anyway) has toward vets.

1st preliminary depth chart is out.  Looks promising for Colin Jones, Haynes, Carter, Byrd.

Less promising for guys like Elder, Southward, Hall, Bryan Cox.  I believe Hall will make roster however.

Southward  should win over Jones. Secondary needs a  guys that can actually cover. Rewatching the wildcard game it sucks that offense left so much off the board.

Pretty sure you can run to Academy and get a tackling dummy for like $100. There's also a couple trash cans in the area you could fill with water.

that game was cursed from the moment Clay dropped the end zone strike from Cam
