O-line not lost to Rivera (or maybe it is)

If it weren’t for Gettleman we wouldn’t have had Turner, Norwell, Williams, Moton and Larsen. Heck we wouldn’t even have had Oher and Remmers in the 2015 season. People harp on Gross and sure, he made a mistake but people sure seem to forget how much he’s added on the OL and how fuging bad it’d be right now.

Hurney’s been here one offseason and we now have Amini starting in place of Norwell. Do you have any thoughts on that since Gross wouldn’t be on our team this year?

It's not as simple as that, and you know it.

I know you are but what am I ....

Seriously though, Gross retired 100% because of Gross, not DG. And our line in 2015 was well above average and DG found THREE all pro linemen in his short time here, Norwell, Turner and Williams. And him drafting Moton was absolutely huge for us now with the Williams injury. Take a look around at OL across the league, maybe 2-3 are complete with just 1 minor weak link. Every single other team has multiple weak links on the line. Was DG perfect? Hell no, and the dumb Kalil deal exemplifies that, but to say that our OL has been trash ( it hasn’t) due to DG is ridiculous.

Ron is trying to make play the hand he is dealt. He has to know the line is trash, but at all the answers suck. Personally I would be giving Larsen the reps at LG but I don’t coach anything

The problem with that is he will never get a chance because he is taking the majority of the reps at center to try to keep Ryan Kahlil fresh.  He won't have a chance to compete for G.  Let's hope they let Roten take the C reps and give Larsen a chance at LG. Roten looked good last night.

Rivera has always been clueless when it comes to the o-line. From rolling out  that Bell, Chandler, Amini line to keeping Norwell on the bench until Amini go injured and also keeping an All-Pro RT in Williams behind Remmers even when he was showing signs of decline. Right now, Sirles should've been the favorite at LG and should be his to lose, but nope. Amini yet again is Rivera's favorite.

It is that simple you just choose not to except it.

What? That the current state of the O-line is largely due to decisions that Gettleman made, the least of which is to give Matt Kalil an absolutely ridiculous contract---probably the worst in franchise history, even topping Delhommes's last contract. Or, the fact that Gettleman made luxury picks and failed to anchor the LT spot, or really even put the right Band-Aid on it while his franchise QB was running for his life.

Don't act like everything is black and white. Hurney 1.0 did his dirt, but Gettleman was far from the picture of perfection---the myth that is hard to die around here.

Rivera, Turner, and Matsko are all gonna have input into who starts on the OL. I can't believe that 2 out of 3 of those are gonna watch film and settle on Amini. I think Rivera's penchant for favoring vets is giving Amini every opportunity to win the job, but in the end, I have to believe the best player will start there.

I tend to agree, and I hope so. But honestly at this point who is best.  Larsen?

And therein lies the root of the problem.

I'll trust Rivera and company with that decision before going with the opinions of blowhards on a message board.

The answer may not be out there, even above and beyond the roster after all is said and done. And even if it is, what's going to be the cost? Decisions, decisions...

Rare logic here.
