Put some thoughts down here...

TLDR version

There is a big difference in running style between Rookie CMC vs Sophomore CMC. Far less juking and dancing. Far more hitting the hole and relying on speed. I can see now that last year all that dancing was just a lack of confidence. Now his runs are much more deliberate, and it seems effective so far.

Don't give these bums your TLDR...make them give you clicks for your hard work and then cram your face in some pie.

I absolutely hope you're right, but I'm not suggesting Cmac is talented enough to do it. I'm just annoyed that this could be another example of fitting your players into a scheme instead of scheming to your players' strengths (and weaknesses).

Cmc has already proven he can run inside. I don't understand all this bs that the coaches are forcing him to do something he can't.

Please stop.

1. I don't understand how he's proved it and i don't think he needs to to be an elite running back.

2. If you slammed Todd Gurley into A or B gap with linemen that can't hold their gaps then he wouldn't be very successful. Instead, you stretch horizontally or trap and give him openings to choose from and you let him use the vision and timing he's got.

Again, this isn't a criticism of Cmac, but I wish we were hearing write ups of how our line is working on blocking schemes that work to his strengths instead of treating him like something he isn't

The article says Christian is looking more aggressive and assertive and with less dancing. How does this suggest the line isn't working on blocking schemes?

Blocking schemes aren't going to be on exhibit at training camp and very few if anyone is going to be able to write about it that it's a former player or coach.

1) You are obviously ignoring his college career and judging him based on his rookie season. Ignorant.

I can't control the write ups, and it saddens me that you put more weight in that than actual football production.

I think this write-up is more about CMCs growth and/or confidence more so than about how his runs will be different

He just looked so small on the field last year compared to everyone else. No power at all.

I got a feeling that he's a scheme specific player and he definitely needs a great oline to flourish as a RB. Hopefully the oline can surprise or maybe 2 tightend sets may help.

When it comes to catching out the backfield or running slotwr routes, he's the best RB in the league at that or no worse than top 3.

Well then you probably wouldn't have been very happy watching Le'Veon Bell's rookie season with the Steelers. In fact Bell was actually criticized quite a bit for being stuffed behind the line of scrimmage as a rookie. But the Steelers saw his potential and actually worked on allowing him to have even more space in the backfield turning him into one of the best RB in history. They didn't force his skillset and try and turn him into something he wasn't.

God i hope we don't make that mistake.

They already tried turning Cam into a pure pocket passer minus the runs... didn’t work out so well

Yeah the second half of last year he averaged like 5ypc despite our poor line play...

Gettleman’s star may have fallen, but remember how he described CMC....

The best tackle-box runner I’ve ever seen is Curtis Martin when he came out of Pitt,” Gettleman said. “Christian is right there with him. Running in that tackle-box takes unique vision and unique foot quickness. And he’s got it. Curtis Martin had it. He had a great career, a Hall of Fame career. And this kid’s got those kinds of skills.”
