Maybe if we were moving to a new system but it has been stated many times we will keep the same one. Like I said the Pre-season will sort them out because every year that camp guy who runs crisp routes looks awesome.

You actually believe we're going to hire a seasoned NFL offensive mind like Norv Turner and just keep the same offense? Please. 

Yeah, pre-season will sort them out. My money is on Wright. Byrd makes the roster IF we carry 6.

We have kept the same offensive system the entire time Rivera has been here. A camp fodder isn't that much of a need. A guy who catches PR is more valuable 100% of the time. Wright will only make it if we carry 6. Guy isn't that good or Min wouldn't have let him walk.

Yeah, Ron the career defensive coach is determining the offensive system we run. C'mon man... Shula was kept due to continuity since he was the QB coach under OC Chudzinski. Norv Turner isn't going to throw away his entire career's experience to pick up Mike Shula's playbook.

Byrd has one career punt return. I don't think that adds much to his value to the roster.

Dude we have run the Air Coryell every year. Maybe some EP with Shula but most Air Coryell. You bring in a system guy to teach the lingo and positions not to mention Wright has been in a WCO for basically two years now. Norv gives us a better play caller and coach not a new system.

Yeah, every iteration of an Air Coryell based offense is exactly the same...

C'mon man.

The reality is that there's a ton of overlap in virtually every NFL offensive playbook. Core basic plays are shared among all of them. But I think it's insanely naive to think a coach of Norv Turner's experience is going to get off his couch and come back to work just to pick up another man's playbook and not put his own fingerprint on the overall offensive system. It's just not gonna happen.

    Norv begat Chud, who begat Shula. We have the progenitor of this offense. Not to mention Norv is who Rivera wanted in the first place. If  things would have worked out differently, we would have had Norv from the beginning. Although we may be learning some new verbiage, we are not learning a new offense.

Byrd has proven himself to be a threat on ST's. That alone should be enough to keep him.

If you really think we are changing our entire system prepare to be disappointed. We will be running the same type of Air Coryell that Chud ran and Shula ran. If Wright makes this team it's because of his skill set not because of previously working with Norv.

Wright costs us less against the cap if he's on the roster than of he isn't. He has a $1.6M cap hit and $2M in dead money. He'll be on the roster.

Besides, Wright gets open and catches the ball. Norv wants to get the ball out of Newton's hands quickly, Wright is the perfect WR to help with that.
