Surprise veteran cut?

The more I think about it, the more I think Garrett Gilbert could/will be cut.  Teddy Bridgewater is going to be traded before the season starts, and the Panthers should (and I think would) spring on it once it gets closer and the asking price drops.  He already knows Norv Turner's offense.  Besides that, Norv was extremely high on his pre-injury.  Would be a logical backup and potentially an upgrade on Derek Anderson if healthy.  Certainly more comforting than rolling with GG, who I think can be decent but needs more time.  I think he is practice squad eligible, and of not. maybe we keep him as the #3 QB.  Just don't see him being a viable option to fill-in for Cam in a season with so much riding on it.  And no one behind GG in the depth chart has shown anything thus far.

This won't happen. GG will be the backup, unless he gets hurt in preseason. Bridgewater will not come to Carolina for vet min and we may still try to sign a vet OL and/or DB. We simply don't have the money for it. Beyond that, I think Bridgewater, whether he's traded or cut, is looking for an opportunity to start. He knows that's impossible here for the foreseeable future.

Kyle Love would be the most likely only because he is 32 this year and Norton might be worth developing.

Would Ben Jacobs be a surprise? 4 LB are locked in. Jacobs is battling Smith and Carter for a spot

Pretty much was going to write the same thing.
