Yes Vic Beasley is a 4-3 DE. He played OLB last year with the Falcons and it didn’t end well. The year before he had 15 sacks with his hand in the dirt. Haynes is similar to Vic, Harold Landry, and Von Miller as far as speed and size. Haynes is strong for a guy that’s 6’3 and only weighs 235.

You have it flipped.

He was joker standup OLB 2 years ago when he was the sack leader

Last year he moved and attempted to play more hands in the dirt and struggled some early

He did rush a lot with hus hands in the dirt in 2016 but was from that joker role.  Just because your starting with your hands in the dirt doesnt mean your a full 4-3 DE.  Demarcus Ware would go from the line with his hands in the dirt, but was a 3-4 OLB

Haynes was 20 pounds lighter going into the Combine than Everette Brown was and both were 6'2". Brown tested a little stronger, but Haynes tested a little more explosive, quicker, and faster.

I really liked Haynes as a 3-4 OLB prospect and I was surprised that he lasted until late in the 4th with his production and measurables. Like I said before, I just hope we can figure out a way to use him.

I think most draft analysts probably had him pegged as a 3-4 OLB.

We'll see how that works out for us.

Quickness and athleticism coming off the edge is something you can always use and can change the outcome of games on the money downs.

I liked this pick when it was made, and I think he can really contribute at some point, probably sooner rather than later - at least as a situational piece.

This. Right now, he's probably going to be a 3rd and long pass rushing specialist.

I rarely seen Vic Beasley play DE last season if any at all. Adrian Claybrone and Tak McKinley was starters that I saw on defense with Vic Beasley playing OLB. I only saw Vic dropped down to DE on third down and he was least effective in comparison to the 2016 season when mainly played DE. It’s the reason why they are switching him back to full time DE this season.

A LOFTY comp would be Yannick. He's the same height as Haynes but is 10 pounds heavier and has shorter arms. Haynes combine grade was higher than Yannicks and he's doing just fine in Jacksonvilles defense and was just on the NFL top 100 list.

Obviously Yannick isn't the norm and is really too high of an expectation for Haynes. If he gives us half to 3/4 the production of Yannick that'll be great.
