Meanwhile, Matt Kalil vs Mario Addison is going...um.

This thread was made by the same guy who preemptively reprimanded imaginary people who “criticized” Cam Newton for underthrowing that one pass to DJ Moore on that double move. I say that because no one was actually criticizing Cam until he came in with that whole “Wow here we go again with the Cam haters :eyeroll:“ attitude.

Now he makes entire threads on single GIFs of a single o-line rep to reaffirm his professional o-line analysis.

Kalil is pushing 30 and a seasoned vet. He is what he is at this point - a liability. Both on the field and toward the cap.

I want to be positive, I really do.

However, I realize that Gettleman got talked into buying a bag full of crap and because of the contract the team keeps eating a handful of it over and over again hoping that it gets better.

As it goes, we're all stuck eating those handfuls until it either turns out good or we hit the bottom of the bag. We're stuck with him being too bad to rely on and too expensive to replace. Might as well hope for the better.

Matt is what he is.

Mario has 20.5 sacks the past two years, he's made a lot of guys look foolish.

Of course this is whats going to happen.

I'm choosing to believe your optimism! Maybe we have a really good DE instead of a really bad LT. The truth lies somewhere in the middle, but a speed bump is supposed to at least slow you down.

On another note, how sad is it that Cam Newton has arguably played with the 3 worst LTs in the NFL in the last 5 years?

Byron Bell, Mike Remmers, Matt Kalil.  The real question is who was the worst of them all (at LT - Remmers wasn't good, but he wasn't flat-out unplayable at RT)?  I wanna say Bell.  I'm pretty sure it was Bell.

Bell, without a doubt in my mind. Remmers was servicable at RT in 2015 until the SB (shudder). He was awful at LT, but not Bell awful.

And unfortunately, we get to eat more of that bag of poo next year. In 2020, we get to pay it $9.8 million NOT to play for us.

By the way, I hope you aren’t lumping me in with some sort of group of Kalil supporters. I wanted Whitworth or Beachum. I was more inclined on Beachum due to his age and the hope that if medically he checked out that he could be a long term replacement. Whitworth was a stop gap knowing that the 2017 T draft class was supposed to be weak and maybe we could get a guy like McGlinchey in 2018. Maybe it was stronger than thought but all of those guys had a lot of question marks (Bolles and Ramzcyk were 1 year guys and Cam has shown that while he started, he was as bad as people worried).

Unfortunately, I was right about both guys I wanted. Whitworth was the best, but heck we may never have had a chance at him. He signed for top $$$ and went to LA. Beachum signed for $24M over 3 years and graded way better than Kalil. SMH. I liked him the most.

Nah, Bugs, they know who they are. I wanted other options as well (ABK: Anybody But Kalil). Mind you, I wasn't dead set against Kalil, but I was thinking more in the two-three mil range. My jaw dropped lower than it did when Jake was re-signed (the last time) when I heard how much money we gave Kalil. Moreover, I was probably the very first to start a thread early during camp last year saying that our fear had been realized. As you can imagine, I got the snarky, sarcastic remarks about jumping the gun. That was just a terrible contract. I just can't fathom how Gettleman thought that was a good idea. You do the prove-it deal first...

@Saca312 and I rarely agree initially on some things, but I believe that we were in micro-precise, in-step unison on Kalil's suckability.
