Important to note there’s no target return. Street doctor timetables are gonna be all over the place. He’ll obviously miss start of season but “good” news is he’s not ruled out.

This. Without knowing the specifics of the damage caused by the dislocation (and to a somewhat lesser extent, the degree of tear to the MCL), there's really no way to even take a stab at it.

I subluxed (temporary dislocation) my kneecap in high school. It hurts but it's not terribly serious. DW should do what he wants but he could probably play on the knee with their pain relievers.

Subluxation is only a partial dislocation. People walk around with subluxed patella all the time. This is a bit more serious.

I definitely see Williams trying to get back as soon a possible because a huge pay check is on the line. Side note I really wish he didn’t change his stance this season because that's probably what caused it.

My concern as well... I would prefer to see him sit the season out and aggressively attack PT after surgery. With it being a contract year, he likely feels the pressure to try and do something just to show availability.

My guess is he's done for the year, if the patella was dislocated there's probably even more damage that they won't find until they scope his knee. Good news is that if it's not the ACL and the patellar tendon itself wasn't torn , his career won't be threatened.

I know there are many variables with this particular injury, especially as it relates to the healing time of different people. My office has a sports day back in early June. While playing ultimate frisbee, one of my paralegals dislocated his patella and screamed those same blood curdling screams. The paramedics reset the kneecap there on the field (with the help of ketamine).  Six weeks on with physical therapy, he still cannot flex the lower, inner portion of his quadriceps.

Im not sure how DW’s injury will affect him, but he has a tear included with the patella dislocation. It would be nice if his quadricep was not affected in the same manner as my paralegal’s.

*shrug* probably. just my own experience

It’s all good. Some people’s joint are just a bit more lax than others which makes them susceptible for subluxations. I would guess a big boy like DW not so lax jointed.
