Panthers right tackle Daryl Williams will miss at least six weeks, probably a little longer, rehabbing a dislocated patella and torn MCL in right knee, according to research. Taylor Moton first up in his absence. But overall not as bad as it appeared on the field.

According to David Newton, 30 seconds (if that, I'm being generous) of perusing the results of a Google search equals "research". The guy's a joke.

I've torn both of my MCLs. It sucks, but you bounce back pretty quickly from it in my experience. No experience with the patella stuff and a big part of that injury is likely exactly how much damage was done to the joint during the dislocation. Hopefully he (and we) got lucky.

Might as well go ahead and try to rehab it for 6-8 weeks or so and see how it responds. Probably not a ton of difference between getting surgery now and doing it in 6-8 weeks in terms of readiness for next OTAs.

It’s still July...  He’ll be back by week 8 especially that surgery is not required.  All things considered, this is a great news.

Honestly, if surgery isn't required and he responds well to rehab, it's not completely out of the question for him to be out there week 1. My bet is assuming no surgery and positive rehab, we see him week 5 following our early bye week.

Yea but apparently torn MCL and dislocation usually 3-4 month recovery.  We are 1.5 months away from regular season so that puts him returning around week 8 depending on progress.  He will likely go on IR with destination to return.

I just think there's too many variables with that dislocation. 8 weeks is probably best case scenario. 3-4 months is probably worst case scenario (that doesn't involve surgery and see ya next year).

Yea.  DJ Humphries had exactly the same injury last season in week 5 and he was put on IR.
