Panthers RT Darryl Williams Injures Right Knee - "It's Bad"

Me too, just worried that we have Larsen and no one as depth with the above starters. I’m just scared of 2016, with so many injuries that we were down to our 3rd C and only one spot (Norwell) didn’t have multiple starters.

Yes, outside of Larsen, the depth is down to Van Roten who got some spot duty at C and G, and Sirles who essentially was the Vikings depth guy until he joined us. At least those guys have seen the NFL field even if not much and without stellar results. After that though you're really talking rookies. I have no clue who we would turn to on the roster as T if MKalil or Moton went down.

Hopefully Williams' injury is a sprain and not a complete tear but I am ok with a Kalil-Mahon-Kalil-Turner-Moton front 5.

Unlike Shula, who wouldn't adapt, I think Norv will include more quick-hitting plays to account for the poor oline.

That would be the outcome I would like to see and hope for at this stage. On the other hand if you wanted to project worse case scenario-which isn't beyond the realms of possibility: MKalil has a bad season at LT, Amini starts at LG, RKalil has injury problems again at C, and Moton finds his rookie season at RT challenging. That could be a horror show.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera said starting right tackle Daryl Williams, who was carted off with an apparent right knee injury, has been transported to Charlotte, North Carolina, for further evaluation. He said the moment the injury occurred was ‘'tough'' but he was pleased with the way the team bounced back after that period. He also was pleased with the way Taylor Moton stepped into the right tackle spot.

This is the fate we had in store when Hurney resurfaced again. A up and down year is just as much the fault of the guy who coaches as is the guy who gets the personnel.

I feared the worst based on what people have said about Hurney. If I'm truthful I don't think he's done terribly since returning. Like it or not we were already commited to MKalil and Turner. Could he have drafted to replace Norwell or picked someone better up in FA? Yes, but we also unquestionably needed WR help and limited cap space so I'm ok with it. I have mixed feelings about Jackson in the 2nd but most of the top G's were taken bottom of the 1st top of the 2nd before that pick. There were still guys available like Josh Sitton in FA but we had lots of holes and it came down to priorities. Like it or not he made his decisions.

Bottom line though is we are in a place where we need the guys who are getting PAID to play up to their contracts. We simply can't afford the Kalil's and Turner on the OL to have down years with the Williams injury. We can't carry them. as they try to find their way back to their best form as last year. For LG and RT the cards will have to fall as they may, and we must hope the people who step in exceed expectations.

He could have addressed it in several rounds and FA. But typically Hurney doesn't notice till its too late. Like with WR.

I am a big a Hurney hater as they come, but let's give him a chance before we call it a bad season.

Today was day 3 of training camp. The Panthers have a lot of time to find a replacement.

Good point, forgot about Sirles and Van Roten. I think we’re OK inside but with Moton starting T is bleak. Did Sirles play RT at all?

I don't pretend to know much about Sirles. Without checking I would guess they plugged him in where they needed him along the OL. Being kind we can say that hopefully that may account for his average reputation. I believe G is his primary position though I maybe wrong.
