Again, like in Reuben Foster and LeSean McCoy’s case, it’s best to wait it out and let him be innocent until proven guilty.

Do teams have handlers for players? It would seem to me that, especially in this day and technology age, it would be worth it for teams to employ people to follow around the guys just to try and prevent this from happening.

Rosters are 90 men deep at this point. Teams have Director’s of Security to handle this type of work and serve as a point of contact between police departments and teams/players but the guy cannot be attached to each player’s hip at all times. On trips to away games, a team will travel with another 5-6 off duty police officers but that is moreso to assist with team security and ensure people aren’t going in and out of their hotel rooms past curfew.

At this point Vernon needs to completely shut up and not breath a word of this to anyone but his defense attorney. If he did any of what is alleged, then the fact that the night club was dark can help. Even so, this is not looking good so far.

Well for starters/higher end backups it could be worth it?

I hated this pick when they drafted him. You have to be fair and wait for more facts to come out, but not looking good for Ol’ Vernon at this point in his career. You know Tepper will make an example out of him if he has to, and of course he should if Butler did this.

What a terrible fuging draft pick.

I understand that they can't follow everyone, but I would think that certain players party it up more than others, or that high round draft choices would receive priority. I've always thought there really needs to be a mentoring program mandatory for all players to help transition these guys from little money to having a lot, and everything that goes with it. I remember seeing a couple of pros doing this type of thing for NBA rookies years ago after the draft, but haven't heard much about it since.
