Nowhere in my comment did I say anything that suggests what you think I am implying.  But you did prove my point by your response.  Infact it goes to my point, there is less respect for others today than there ever was.  Everyone is quick to condem without the slightest bit of hesitation.  You see the world the way you want to.

I don’t pretend to know the ins and outs of this particular situation. I apologize if it came across as oh we used to slap asses and these girlz are jus objekts because that’s not what I meant. I was referring more to youthful indiscretions that I feel are magnified and recorded for posterity vs us as youths being like holy poo what happened last night. If VB turns out to have done something wrong, cut em.

The report is categorized as a Class C Assault, which sounds a ton worse than it is.  Lets say that hypothetically he is guilty and gets the worst legal punishment possible.  That is a 500 dollar fine.

Is a 500 dollar fine the line for cutting someone from the team?  I've seen speeding tickets with worse fines.  Are we going to call for people to be cut if they have a bunch of unpaid parking fees if that fee equals 500 dollars or more?

Are we just mad his issue has the words "assault" and "woman" in the name, regardless of the severity?

Do I think he needs additional punishment on top of the 500 dollar fine if he is guilty? Sure.  Cutting just seems like a knee jerk reaction.

Certain assault offenses in Texas are punishable as a Class C misdemeanor if:

  • The alleged offender intentionally and knowingly threatened another person with imminent bodily injury, or
  • The alleged offender intentionally or knowingly physically contacted another person they knew the person would perceive as offensive.

A conviction for this degree of offense is punishable by a fine up to $500

Hmmm... let's see... it was just a few months ago Dave Gettleman said "you don't quit on talent" in reference to keeping and paying Beckham and that's after he quit on Smitty and Norman with us. Both were cuts which resulted in bad seasons for us as those losses handicapped us severely. He failed with Benjamin and Worley and Sanchez and a host of other high profile picks, and more importantly late round pick failures. Dave doesn't have much of an eye for talent, clearly. Looks like Butler is yet another failure in multiple facets. We don't need this loser anyway with Short and Poe. So glad one of Richardson's last acts was firing this arrogant blow hard. Star, Short, Turner, Bradberry, McCaffrey, and hopefully Samuel are really the only picks you can say Dave got right. Not enough, hence the firing. And we would've drafted a few of those guys without Dave's advice.

Except SS revenge against panthers season he was wildly mediocre at end of his career. The rest of your observations are pretty spot on though. But Gettleman was and still is way better than Hurney retread. Hopefully he is replaced by Tepper quickly.

Things that also vary $500 fine. Jaywalking, drinking in public, defrauding an innkeeper...

I have no opinion on the accusation because the facts are not yet  known.

I disagree with you assertion.  Your claim that the 70's were different I took to mean that abuse was not taken as seriously as it is taken today.  If that is not correct...please clarify.

It was a photo lineup.  Story keeps changing too.

http://www.wbtv.com/story/38733272/victim-fears-panthers-player-may-get-off-the-hook-for-alleged-assault

Quote

Moore and the victim are concerned the punishment for the charge police are considering is equivalent to getting a speeding ticket.

"Violence against women should not be diminished to running a red light or a stop sign," Moore said.

Quote

Moore says charges could get beefed up now that police know pain was felt at the time of the alleged assault.

Quote

"She just wants him to answer for what he did that night in Dallas," Moore said. "So it's up to the Carolina Panthers and the NFL to punish him and how they punish him."

Dallas Police say they are still investigating, but Moore is concerned Butler may get off the hook because of who he is.

"I don't want to speak too far into why I generated that sense," Moore said. "Just from talking to folks who have been looking at this case - I kind of feel that they want this thing to go away as soon as possible, whether if that's a slap on the wrist or sweeping it under the rug - that is a strong possibility."

The year after that before he got hurt he had like 600 yards in 5 games and a quarter or something like that. Then his last season he was coming off a torn Achilles at that age and was still very very solid. DG made the right move for our team cutting him (offense needed to be turned over to Cam, Smitty was a distraction at times and most importantly the money he was owed for several years after if not cut) however Smitty was still a great player in Baltimore.

What I'm hearing is that Butler will miss the first 3 games of the season. The NFL will lay the punishment down in a few weeks and Butler will except. Kid is super stressed about it and it seems this is a girl hoping to get some money. From what my source told me he did not touch her but could be found liable because it was his residence.

Sorry not because it was his residence. Because he was aggressive. Sorry I should have read before I posted it. He threw ice at her and police are saying that could be considered battery.
