Matt Moore starting is highly unlikely....

all preseason long all i heard was "it's preseason, it doesnt matter." "it's preseason, dont worry." teams that dont prepare for the unexpected get bit by it sooner or later. i can't understand why if moore is as terrible as you guys say how in the world does he stay on the roster? as for his stats looking bad, when he doesnt work with the first team offense, even in practice, wouldnt you think his timing would be a little off, im sure we dont have the playmakers on second string that we do on first right?? i'd much rather give the keys to a guy who's had time in our system, than to go out and blow ANOTHER 1st round pick or any pick for that matter on somebody whos gonna be 2-3 years away. as for a.j. feely, he's no more and upgrade than matt moore, and has had less time in our system than moore. as for the current qb situation, it kind of reminds me of the whole peete/delhomme situation in 03 i think it was?? fox FINALLY made the change to dellhomme and looked like a genius, what if he never made that change and stuck with peete? he probably wouldnt be here right now. looks like with our upcoming schedule, and the way jake is playing, we have the rest of this season to endure this CRAP they call football. id rather make an effort to get better regardless of the out come than to stay staus quo and keep looseing. thats been a pattern with the panthers the last couple of years. need proof of that last statement?? the patriots make roster changes every year, and they win games every year.

me and you agree:D

Peete was never that good to begin with and Fox inherited him. Jake has been very solid although far from spectacular until this year. Even this year he has had 2 pretty good games, one horrible game, and one sub par game and one decent one.

As for his arm strength I can't really see any difference. What is different is that he is more tentative in his throws, often throws late and throws less timing routes. It is much more mental than physical. And Fox like most coaches knows that you can change the mental.

If we win against Buffalo we are 3-3 which is one game away from last year's record and constitutes a 3 game winning streak. Certainly not the time for wholesale changes. If he is bad this week and we get crushed, then it is another nail in his coffin. If he plays well then rumors of his demise will have been exaggerated.

The ball is in his court and we will see what happens.

As for how can Moore staying on the roster despite being very good, I have one word for you. Weinke.

the guys on Sirius NFL network I believe have commented before that they have spoken w/ several unnamed Panther players during the offseason and thus far this season and comments were made about his arm not being the same as it once was.

I have heard Jake and Fox say it is stronger.....his play doesn't support it. Maybe his mental problems are simply b/c he is having to adjust to his post Tommy John arm.

The guys who talked to unnamed sources have said his arm isn't stronger. One hell of an indictment there.

I listen to Sirius every day. They are not high on Jake right now and guys like Adam Schein and Solomon Wilcox are Jake haters so it doesn't surprise me.

I have a friend who is an athletic trainer who watched him throw and thinks his arm is stronger. So now what?

Don't any of you remember that his arm was hurt in 2005 and he played essentially with a frayed tendon for 2 years in pain before the surgery. I can hardly believe that he would be weaker after successful surgery by all accounts. It isn't like his arm was fine before the surgery either. For that reason the arm weakness theory's make no sense whatsoever.

Normally the guys on Sirius NFL doesn't just make up stuff...I'm sure there are guys who play w/ Jake that question his arm and it being strong. You would have to question it based on what he has done....you would have to question it unless you were just bias and shoot down anything negative about Jake. Jake is the only guy who has remotely been able to come back from Tommy John...there ain't much to reference when talking about a QB. Jake has a lot of issues from the looks of things....but you keep on telling everyone on the board they are dumb they are for questioning the play of Jake. Obviously, his play is irrelvant in your mind....

you like to talk about how moore rides the pine alot, i guess ole jake never rode the pine...oh yeah he did behind Aaron brooks and the not so great Rodney peete. Really, Aaron brooks??? your point is???? as for your theory about being 3-3, i dont know what planet your on, but from where im sitting and what ive seen IF we get to 3-3 ENJOY it! the way they have played those first 6 games, and with new orleans twice, atlanta again, new england, minnesota, and the giants on the schedule things arent looking good. you cant honestly sit here and say you are pleased with the way jake and the whole team for that matter have played. as for your comment about weinke, he had his turn/s, and failed. hard to say matt moore failed when he is 2-1 as a starter. matt moore proved he could manage the game, thats all fox wants in a qb right? so you think jake is even good enough right now to be a game manager? tell me that in after january 3rd lol.

I'm sure this is going to be highly unpopular but if I was Jerry Richardson right now I would have a meeting yesturday with Fox and Hurney and tell them their jobs are safe for this season and they would both return in 2010. (Fox only has one year left on his contract anyways) But their would be some stepulations.

They have to take some risks with both playcalling and with personel, especially with the QB position. They have to look for a QB early in the draft and possibly also one in FA because another stepulation would be to cut Delhomme at the end of the season. And finally they have to start making some moves or start working on some moves (pre-approved by the owner) that is going to make the Panthers a Super Bowl contender in 2010 as 2009 is now a wash.

I would much rather the Panthers go 5-11 and lose a couple of games because of some risks and moves that will help the team next season then go 7-9 or 8-8 and end up with Fox fired and a new coach having to come in and another season being a wash because Fox and Hurney were trying to save their jobs this year and not looking at the bigger picture. And based on history Fox should have another playoff year next season...

And lets not forget that the $20 million gaurenteed in Jake's contract isn't as it appears as Hurney pointed out in his radio interview. The deal is mostly gaurenteed for his money this season, which is was getting paid anyway and is backloaded in a way that makes it very easily terminated after this season even if there is a cap in 2010.

Seriously?

I see lots of words but little if any logic to respond to.

If Richardson plans to experiment this year and lose more games, then have him plan to do it on the road. I paid for PSLs and want to see us win at home as much as we can. If he wants to refund my money then go for it. In the end he has to please the fans if he plans on being in business in a few years.

But trying to get Fox and Hurney to losen up and takes some risks and experiment with some of the personel would not mean they would lose games, only that the risk would be higher and the reason why Fox/Hurney are right now unwilling to do so. Who knows, the moves might actually get the team to the playoffs and more wins than previously thought. My point is that a lame duck coach, which Fox is right now with how things are going and the schedule ahead, just isn't as effective as a one that isn't a lame duck.

It may be bravado and he may be under pressure, but from his comments he doesn't see it that way. On an interview on Sirius last week, he said that whether he is fired or not never crosses his mind and surely doesn't impact his thought process. This was in response to the story that broke supposedly that he had confided in a friend that he thought he was going to be fired.

But Fox is surely not a risk taker win or lose. That is his philosophy and his winning record backs him up. I don't see that changing whether or not his job is safe or not. If Richardson wants a risk taker then he will be replacing Fox at season's end because I doubt Fox will ever do a 180 flip.

Great point and I think that what you just said is the exact reason that Fox will be fired. It's not that Fox isn't a good coach or that he doesn't have a great football mind. His inability or resistance to evolving as a coach is what is hurting him the most this season.

So you are saying Jerry should meet with Fox and tell him he should give up on this season. I doubt JR got where he is by quitting when things get tough.
