I'm not sure how we're overrated to begin with when it seems the consensus, from what I've read, is that we aren't very good.

This.

I'm amazed that you people turn to national media for Panthers thoughts when they failed you in 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1998, 1997, 1996, and 1995. (We were actually preseason media darlings 2004-2006.) If there is a cluster of teams that are all about as good as we are, we will always be ranked last. And then we'll always be called the most overrated team despite that. The exact thing happens with Cam: he's always ranked last of QBs that are all about as good as he is and he'll simultaneously be called the most overrated QB in the league. This is why from the moment the draft ends to the moment the regular season starts, I never ever click on any of these lists because I already know what they'll say. You'll have lower blood pressure and lead calmer lives if you just get your Panthers info from local sources and ignore the national guys completely.

You have to look at the reasons for the good year/bad year pattern. It's not Voodoo. There are tangible reasons for it.  People here seemed to be blind to the obvious loss of talent and leadership in the secondary and then injuries on the OL in 2016.  These were elephant in the room problems.  At this point those huge obvious issues don't exist.

Just my opinion..

During the fox years.. It was due to injuries and Fox stubbornness with putting over older vets and holding back younger talent.. Jake over Matt,  Foster over Deanglo, and other examples of Fox staying to long with vets when the younger players needed development and ready to take those reps..

Gentlemen years he never built on success from previous years.. He have a great offseasons finding talent every where.. And then the next season he would lose whole positions groups and slack on replacing them..

Just my opinion..

Gettleman got overconfident in his drafting.

You lose Norman, Tillman, and Harper from your secondary and think you can replace that with rookies? What a moron.
