Panthers one of most over-rated teams

You can’t stop being wrong. Philly was tied for 9th in yards per play, just ahead of another 6 teams. NO averaged 6.3 yards per play and Philly was 5.5 yards per play. Philly was not a big play offense. Alshon Jeffrey went down 1.2 ypr after leaving the juggernaut Bear offense. Smith had his worst year ever at 11.9 ypr. He had 16.9 ypr in Baltimore and 17.5 ypr in SF. Teddy never got close to those averages even in his best years and I know Ginn is a deep threat. It’s just incorrect to say Smith isn’t a deep threat because of 1 year in Philly.

Philly was 9th in the league with 54 20+ yard pass plays. 7th in the league with 9 40+ yard pass plays.

A couple of thoughts. This team won't be like any other panther team we have had. It is better on paper than the 2015 squad which means little in July.  When have the Panthers ever had 2 running backs who can account for over 100 catches? Olsen is healthy and hopefully back on track for a 1000 yard season. Your two best catchers are not wide receivers. Then you have Funchess and Smith both proven entities and a lesser known but productive vet in Wright. If we get anything from Moore, Samuel, Duke, Byrd or the rest, this will be a productive group. That article was simplistic in it's analysis and incorrect in it's conclusions. Norv is going to be energized and Cam will learn nuances only a veteran coach can teach based on decades of experience. This isn't a difference system of offense so there shouldn't be a learning curve. Everything should just flow. We are best when we come in as the underdog. This is the script you want to start the movie about our first Lombardi. Disrespected black cats who overcome all odds to start the Tepper era of excellence.

It's like people have forgotten that our 15-1 Super Bowl team had a weak OL, WR corps, and secondary too. That secondary was trash outside of Norman, though admittedly Kurt Coleman did have a career year (probably largely due to Norman).

Charles Tillman and Roman Harper were trash?  Pretty sure that entire secondary contributed to each others success.

At that point in their careers, yeah. Pretty much. Roman Harper in particular. Let’s not sugar coat it with nostalgia. He was not good for us.

We all, or most of us, know that the media aren't fans of the Panthers.

5 or 6 years ago anyone that posted garbage from BR was lambasted.  Now that our millennials are taking over this forum anything is game.

I think we are fortunate that we can actually look at our roster and believe with a break here and there that we would actually win it all.   I don't think that many teams can look at their roster and say POTENTIALLY we are top 10 defense and 10 offense.

I believe it does.

Michael Irvin caught most of his passes from Troy Aikman, but he had the chance to catch passes from Brett Favre in the Pro Bowl. I remember hearing him talk about it being a huge difference.

Ginn would probably say the same thing.

I would agree with this in most cases. But most of Ginns drops with CAR were deep balls thrown right in his hands and he could have walked into the end zone untouched. At least 6 in 2015 alone. If it were mainly outs and curl routes, I would give much more credibility to the velocity argument. But none of those deep balls could have been thrown any better and velocity doesn’t really affect the ball when thrown that deep. As long as it’s accurate. He also sat the bench for 3 years on a WR-starved team in SF. And couldn’t get on the field in ARI behind an UDFA. Ginn is a weapon, but a replaceable one. We didn’t last year.
