Falcons tell Julio Jones to suck it

He has plenty of options. He can sit out and make the Falcons lose a few games, he can force a trade this season, or he can disrupt a team by taking care of himself this year and demand a trade next year. I'm sure TO will show him how to get his cash.

He doesn't have any options that don't include losing money...something those guys rarely do.

He cannot force a trade, that is the teams decision.

He can try to disrupt the team, but they could just suspend him for conduct.

He can sit out, and lose a ton of money.

His options are to show up and work, or sit out and lose money.

I seriously doubt Julio is going to sit out any games.

And Ryan’s record as a starter before Julio was drafted? 33-13..An older Jameis? They’re not similar in any facet.

Yes older Jameis. They are about in the same class.

let him get a real job for regular 40 hr work week then ask him if he wants his old contract to catch a football for 14 million a year, he will jump at the chance.... EVERYBODY, including the owner gets way to much money to play a game, even if it is i game i love to watch... I dont feel sorry for any of them... If JJ isn't happy with 14 million to catch a football , tell him construction companies are looking for help

Do you tell Floyd Mayweather to get a real job? No you pay the man what he wants because he's the best. Same goes for JJ. You either pay him or trade him.

I don't know how on Earth you can come to that solution.

Please explain, in detail, exactly how JJ can make the Falcons trade him without costing himself a lot of money.

Please explain to me why losing a few games checks to get twice the money is going to hurt a already millionaire?

You're assuming that he'd win the face off. He's under contract. The Falcons are under no obligation to renegotiate his contract in any way and they just drafted another WR in the 1st round. Maybe they saw this coming?

History proves if he wants to move he will. As you said they have a first round WR and can move JJ for pretty good compensation. Me personally I hope they don't and he gets disgruntled on the field.

It will cost him about $750,000, just to miss training camp and mandatory camp.

Then come the game checks.

Like I said, his only options involve losing a lot of money, which the players rarely do.

Yep. The guy is under contract for two more seasons. The team holds all the cards in this one. I'm not on either side on this one. JJ has every right to ask for more money, the team has every right to tell him to honor his contract. We'll see how it all plays out.

If the team is smart (they seem to be for the most part) they won't do anything...keep their mouths shut, other than to say they want him in the building, and acknowledge how important he is to their team.  The contract was setup to be extended again, but not until next year.

Under the current CBA, players under contract have very little, to no leverage, unless they want to lose a lot of money.

I am sorry, but JJ should not be asking for more money. I honestly don't think he is good enough to even hint at asking for more. If someone gives the Falcons a Big Comp for Trading JJ, that team is dumb. JJ is not the face of the NFL, the franchise, or the Team, he is worth maybe a 3rd round pick. If JJ sits out, it hurts his numbers, and he is the type that "wants his numbers".

Sorry If I do not buy the hype of JJ being that good... I am the same for Bell and OBJ.. just don't think they are that good... for the crap they put teams through.

Julio Jones is #1 in NFL history in yards per game..he is future HOF. He’s 29 with 3 years left...he is worth way more than a 3rd rounder.

And Julio deletes some pictures off his Instagram / skips mini camp and now he’s like Bell and OBJ? In reality Julio has not once come out and say he wants more money. The media did.
