He's great, but he has two years left on his deal.

I'll rarely, if ever, support an extension with 2 years remaining...especially when those years cap hit's are as low as they are for ATL.

Really wish they would make a mistake with this one and extend him.

It's funny how the players always think the deal is great when it's front loaded. When it comes time for their cut to come, though it's not really a cut, they begin demanding a new contract so that their pay for the season won't drop. They see the reduction as a pay cut rather than what it is.

I can't blame Julio.

The "greedy player" brand of fan commentary in this thread is not at all surprising.

It's amusing watching fans bickering about players making millions while men like our previous owner sell a team for billions as punishment for being a terrible person.

I hope no one takes spelling that seriously on here or I am in big trouble. With autocorrect and tiny phone keys and fat fingers, I have lots of errors in my posts. I hope people focus on the content and not the grammar. After all this is a football message board not an English class.

When people get butt hurt though it's the first thing they look for.

First of all the selling of the team had nothing to do with punishment.   His punishment was 2.75 million.

Second of all he bought the team 20+ years ago and Tepper probably got a bargain considering some of the other franchises would probably net more than he had to pay.   It's called value appreciation.

Julio is greedy end of story.   I said it before.  When he signed his 6 year deal he was the highest paid WR in the game.   Honor your contract.   If he wasn't greedy why is he trying to DOUBLE his 14m per?   So what if others got more over a shorter period.   Atlanta's deal is a better deal because it gives Julio six years worth of stability.

"So he can take care of his family"  He is so fortunate that he won't have to apply for food stamps for 6 years.   It was so difficult to survive on the millions he earned during his rookie contract.

Do you support teams cutting players prior to contract completion?

Do you tell teams to honor their contracts?

I do.  It’s a performance based job.  If your performance does not justify your pay, you go bye bye.  It is player responsibility to squeeze as much guaranteed money as possible.

Maybe you don't know much about contracting.  Contracts have all sorts of clauses that give them the opportunity to release a player.

We know this because NO PLAYER has ever filed a suit for breach of contract.   Read again.  BREACH of CONTRACT.   There have been other lawsuits but not because of Breach of Contract.

If a player (agent) adds a clause that says he can renegotiate after so many years than good for him.  Then he can and would have leverage.   This isn't the case with Julio or it would have already been in the press.

Julio agreed to 6 year deal at 14 mil per season.  Atlanta said they would look to renegotiate after 2018.    Either way they are in control because Greedy Jones is on the hook for 3 more seasons.   He can demand a trade, he can sit and he can drop every pass thrown to him and he is still Atlanta's bitch for the next 3 seasons.

I hope they do renegotiate because that will hinder them getting other good players.  If I were Atlanta I would tell Julio to be ready to play.  If not, retire but we will own your right for 3 years.
