He may be but he isn't worth 28 million per season.   No owner is going to double his salary.  He's greedy and that's it.  End of Story.

Tons of owners would pay him. He could take a mediocre team and make them a playoff team. He is the best WR in the NFL period. Your Wrong Period.

No owner is going to double the salary for a WR.   See you're thinking short term.  You give him 28 million you just upped the entire pay scale for WR.  Now every receiver that thinks they are comparable to Jones is going to scream for that much or more.   Owners are not going to put WR in the same pay scale as QB.

Not gonna happen.

He's a great receiver.

He signed, at the time, the highest salary for a WR in the league.    Atlanta did a good job by locking him up for 6 years.   Jones is butthurt that other WR got a better deal than him.

MAN-UP and honor your signature.  6 yrs get over it.

Agreed.  I keep hearing about "guaranteed" contracts.  That's what they have now.  Whatever is guaranteed at signing...is your only guarantee.

If the NFL players want to move to guaranteed contracts like some of the other sports, they will have to start accepting much shorter deals.

Exactly. Guaranteeing money mitigates the risk for a player but actually increases it for the team who pays regardless of performance. So their reward is when they sign the right person and the player outperforms their contract. A contract is a contract. If you think you are all that great and will outperform your contract then take less guaranteed and more incentives. I promise teams will be glad to work that out with you.

Make it incentive based and redo it now. Jump right on it when all the other players say they want the same thing. Owner have wanted incentive based contracts for years. They only pay more after the player has already performed. Pay as a following bonus attached to next year and you put it on next year's salary cap.

I just thought we would go though the whole thing so he would know how to spell them all. We are not writing a thesis BTW.

I hope no one takes spelling that seriously on here or I am in big trouble. With autocorrect and tiny phone keys and fat fingers, I have lots of errors in my posts. I hope people focus on the content and not the grammar. After all this is a football message board not an English class.

Atlanta got him at 14m if they want to be assholes about it.   Wanna sit out.  Go for it.  You got three years to wait.   If I were Atlanta I wouldn't renegotiate shyt.  He's under contract for 3 more years.

If Jones wanted a higher paycheck than maybe he shouldn't have done a 6 year deal.

He might sit out the pre-season but you can bet your ass when the games starts and he starts losing money.  He'll play.
