What Would You Consider To Be a Successful 2018 Season?

How would you define the upcoming season as a good one?

  1. 1. How so?

    • Having any type of winning record even if we miss the playoffs (Having back to back winning seasons the first time in franchise history)
      8
    • Having a great record regardless of what we do in the playoffs (Ex. 12-4 or better)
      10
    • Sweeping the Saints and winning division (Reguardless of what we do in the playoffs)
      7
    • Winning 1 playoff game
      15
    • Winning 2 playoff games
      11
    • Getting to NFCCG
      34
    • Winning NFCCG
      3
    • Get to SB
      10
    • Win SB (for this one you would consider anything else a failure)

Honestly, the season is not a failure if we finish above .500, though I doubt any of our players feel that way. I think we should make it to the NCFCG, but so many things have to break the right way it's tough to make that the bottom line. Basically, better than last year, which is one playoff win, is probably what most would consider successful.

Yea its July but pre season is next month and regular season is the month after, we're getting pretty close in my mind.

I was wondering how exactly people here define a successful season after coming of an 11-5 years.

Last season was weird to me b/c we finished with a great record but got 3x swept by the Saints and lost in the WC playoffs.  Nice record but we had an embarassing loss to the Bears and did jack all in the playoffs after missing it the season before, and losing the SB season before that.

I know we have new offense this year and we still havent quite figured out our WR core, so I'm trying to realistically curb my expectations a bit. Id love to get a SB but how realistic is that?

I would say, its a successful season if we win 2 playoff games. Winning a WC and getting ousted in the divisional, or even going 16-0 and losing the divisional will not satisfy me. I basically think it would be great if we could make it to NFCCG.

Thats just what i define as successful. My realistic view of what will happen? I think we go 10-6, win the WC, and lose in the divisional.

Super Bowl win or Rivera fired after end of season. Nothing in between.

Are winning the NFC CG and getting to the sb not the same thing?

and yes, that would be my answer. I could see an argument for anything beyond what we did last year though, so divisional round and up. But honestly, we had the saints beat that game despite lots of injuries. 2 plays changed the whole game and it was bonehead obsurd errors by our guys

I say getting the National Conference Championship game would be awesome!! As I think the Packers will be the other top team as Rodgers will be on fire to prove himself after his injury last year and he wants to be the top paid dog!! So I think if the Panthers can make it here that would awesome but to beat the Packers would be even better than the honor to play in the SB..

getting to the NFCCG would be my definition of a successful season. What worries me is the saints beat us soundly in every contest which means they are just better. Did we do enough to be able to defeat them in the offseason? I don't think so on paper. And they didn't just stop getting better because we did. I want clear answers for Thomas,Kamara, Bree's and whatever Game of magical hats Payton has going on offense.

The question is what is considered a successful season?

For us since we have been in the playoffs the past 4 of 5 seasons a successful season is a winning record and being in the playoffs.

My expectations are different.   I have high expectations and expect us to compete in the Super Bowl and win it.   We have the talent and can win it all.

With how stacked the NFC is this season, making the playoffs would be impressive. Falcons, Saints, Packers, Vikings, Rams, and Eagles are all very good teams, and teams like the Cowboys and 49ers are also good. I will vote 1 playoff win, but if the Panthers win the Superbowl, they will likely have to beat 4 very good teams.
