The "Way Too Early" Pre-Training Camp prediction of our 53 man roster thread (Bonus Practice Squad guess too!)

Actually I am on the fence with CAP, Hood and Barner.  Cap has averaged like 5 yards per carry on his limited sample size, hasnt fumbled at all, but I havent seen his pass protection ratings, maybe they suck?

Hood looked great but got limited carries this last game, looked like he would easily be the guy over Cap, hes younger bigger and looks faster.  I could see him getting snatched off the practice squad.

Barner has versatility, reliable return guy although not dynamic there, and hes really played about the same amount of carries but more touchdowns and less YPC than CAP-- but has a lot more catches-- hence versatility.

Not sure there.  I guess it will come down to pass protection.  Barner could be kept for versatility, hard preseason running, and quite frankly on returns hes expendable if he gets hurt,... but hes never been hurt.

If we keep 4 backs then Barner and either CAP or Hood-- in this case I would say Hood because hes younger bigger and looks faster playing. If we keep 3 backs then I still lean towards Hood.  Note-- I really think he wont be on the practice squad long-- someone will take him so stashing him will require a stumped toe on IR.

I was expecting to see Hood on the PS....I see keeping 5 CBs and 4 to 5 safeties (Jones)....It think there is 1 spot for one of three CBs--Seymour, Doss, and Gunter....SIrles is listed as a T now and will probably stay that way until Williams gets back....I don't see a jersey for Obada nor Hall--could both go to PS?....Safety bothers me---we have a special teamer  in Jones, a 59-year old SS (we love grandpas at SS--see Harper, Roman), a FS in concussion protocol, and a developing  third-round rookie.  What could go wrong?   I see Cox making the roster for these reasons....Not sure if Gilbert is PS eligible, but too lazy to check.

Why not try Bersin at TE.  He knows the system , he is cheap , has sure hands , and is big enough for the position . Surely he is good enough for the third backup spot .

Because the only thing Bersin blocks is punts--as the returner.

Bug Howard is 6-4 and weighs about 220.  He could add 15 lbs and that might be an interesting transition.  Not sure if he could block either.

Here is a thought---unless I am mistaken, Armah has seen reps at TE in practice.  He played TE in college for Georgia Pacific Tech and Diesel Repair University, I think.  Could he be the third TE on the depth chart?  Thomas has done well and has shown that the job is not too big for him--maybe, just maybe, we go with a person who is sure to have a jersey on Sunday with a TE or 2 on the PS.

Considering the hell we went through with this receiving core last year i dont know how we dont keep 6. This is the only team in the league who tries so hard not to throw the ball in a PASSING LEAGUE.  I just hope the same issues dont occur from last year, this team needs to be more balanced and Cam shouldnt havent to run as much.

Colin Jones not making the cut makes this a pretty thin unit, and I expect we've got Boston or someone on speed dial. As long as Adams and Searcy don't have to play catch up and can keep the action in front of them, I think we'll be okay. As far as Gaulden goes, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

only 3 safeties, one of which is damn near 40 and 1 who's a rookie who's actually a nickle (I'm stoked that he's outplaying most peoples expectations, but asking a rookie nickle to cover the passers in this league is a tall order)is not a good idea. I think we keep Jones and/or bring in a FA if possible. Remember, TD won't count against us for 5 weeks, so we can leverage that to hold an extra guy
