Sugar coating RBs, CJ lead back

Recommended Posts

Yea man, hear you on your points and can’t disagree.

To be honest I was really wanting Fournette but just had the gut feeling the Jags were not going to pass on him.

Cmac did feel a little early to me but I was excited and optimistic about potential. (He felt more like a 15-20)

Like you I just don’t see every down back but I do see potential for “new breed” .

You guys.

We scream for Cam to have more weapons, and ya'll want a Safety?  We got Cam two legit weapons last season in CMC and Samuel..Samuel happened to have a bad injury...part of the game.

I would be frightened to see what our offense looked like last season without CMC to be honest.

We had one of the highest paid centers in the league and two of the "best" G's in the league, and couldn't run the ball to save our lives.  Something was broken last year with our offense, and I'm guessing that's why Shula is now in NY.

I wasn't upset about the CMC selection, but yeah, if I was making the pick it would've been Malik Hooker.

Hindsight is ALWAYS 20/20, but just think, we could've had Hooker or Lattimore at #8 to help our woeful secondary, taken JuJu Smith-Schuster in the 2nd, then had our pick of Kamara or Kareem Hunt in the 3rd. That's better weapons for Cam plus a help for our weakest overall unit.

I still think CMC can be a very good player for us, but I said it at the time he was picked and I still say it now, I don't think he'll ever live up to the expectations of a top 10 pick at RB.

Good lord man...of course that would have been a good draft.

IMO, he wasn't drafted to be a running back...he was drafted to be a mismatch weapon for Cam.  A way to provide easy yards for a QB who feels that he has to do it all.

I liked the pick then, and I like it now.  If we can't field a very good defense with our head coach, and the amount of money we pay that side of the ball....then that's an us problem.

And if he WAS drafted for that purpose, that is the problem. You can find players to accomplish that in late rounds. You are describing a Shane Vereen type of player. A top 10 RB should be the main concern of the DEF from day one.

This. I didn't have a problem with the player, I questioned the draft value of where we picked him.

When CJ had a decent O-Line and the threat of a real passing game in 2014 he had 1100+ total yards and 10 tds in 7 starts. Y'all retarded.

Then every other GM in the NFL is too. CJ is the 34th highest paid RB in the NFL fresh out of unrestricted free agency.

I bet we are near or at the bottom of the NFL in terms of investment in our secondary. We've spent all of our money on the front seven in a league that trends more and more toward passing.

Yeah if only we can see how draft picks can turn out before wthey are taken.

Also just because a guy does good elsewhere doesnt mean he would do good here. Vice versa. CMC might have looked like a conplete stud with a full workload and a good scheme/OC

Hence the "hindsight is always 20/20" comment.

Please, Kamara and Hunt are straight studs. They're plug and play anywhere.
