Is Hurney next to get the boot?

No owner (other than JR) would have ever contemplated giving Hurney a second chance as GM.  Having said that, Marty 2.0 hasn't committed any significant missteps and I doubt Tepper would axe Hurney without a justification.

So, Marty basically has a season to prove he knows what he's doing or at least figure out how to get into Tepper's good graces.  If history is any indicator, the Panthers are due for a down season in 2018, so Marty needs to defy history or he'll likely be the next executive heading out the door with a cardboard box in hand.

Who do you think ultimately approved the mega contracts that Hurney gave out that landed us in cap hell and unable to compete?

Who (other than JR) would've even consider hiring Hurney as GM once, much less twice?

Blame JR for the terrible contracts all you want, but if Hurney was actually viewed as a good/great GM done wrong by JR, he would have had other teams (at least one) offer him an interview for GM during his 5 years out of the league.  Hurney had none, zilch, zero.

Hurney did get Cam weapons but crapped the bed for our offensive line.

I’d say he should get part of the blame if the Panthers stagger.

How did he crap the bed for our OL? By not vastly overpaying a G? I loved Norwell but we couldn't keep him. G isn't all that hard to replace and while yes I would've loved to grab an interior guy in the draft it just didn't fall that way so I don't blame Hurney for that.

If only Gettleman had offered Norwell a reasonable extension prior to him becoming expensive. No idea how you can blame Hurney for the situation the prior GM left us with on the line.  We've got a high draft pick set up to fill the easiest position to to fill in the line? How is that cramping the bed? You don't build a team by over paying for left freaking guards.

If we aren't successful this season, I give Hurney about a 40-60 chance of being around this time next year.

Sure, we play in probably the toughest division in football, and there logically is a transition period that may make things a bit more complex, but this isn't Hurney's, Rivera's, or Norv's first time around the block. They are seasoned professionals, and we won 11 games last year. You have to hold serve and compete! I'll give you the opportunity to make your case for failure, and you might be able to talk me into another year, but I must see progress and improvement relatively early into my tenure as owner.

We just made the playoffs with Hurney. He's not going anywhere for a year or two. Gettleman nuthuggers need to get over themselves. I doubt any other playoff team's fanbase wants its GM fired. But it'll be hilarious if the next GM is not an upgrade and we get to hear excuses for how he's still better than Hurney.

Barring a Championship I was hoping a new owner would know to just start over, clean house. We know what clinging and hoping does, JR was a pro at it along with bias favorites. But winning wasn’t his main objective. Let’s see what a fresh start and originality can do to this franchise.

Please describe what part of the team Hurney was responsible for last year? K(wrong choice) and trading our #1 WR and not even attempting to add anything resembling a NFL WR. And we wound up with that pitiful receiving core. How in the world does he get credit for last year?

Ohh. Gettleman nut hugger....that explains it.

How many think he will be here next season, regardless of his moves since being re-hired? His close relationship with the previous owner may seal his fate. The whole rehire was bizarre and unprecedented.

Tepper would like to put his stamp on the team and being forced to keep that statue at the stadium, I'm sure pisses him off. Opinions........

no.

Who do you think killed our 2010 season telling Hurney to dump the veterans expecting  a protracted hold out. When that didn't happen and we went 2-14, Hurney had to overpay to keep anyone who wanted to still play here. Richardson screwed things up and Hurney made mistakes as well.

Fixed it for accuracy sake.
