Is Hurney next to get the boot?

How many think he will be here next season, regardless of his moves since being re-hired? His close relationship with the previous owner may seal his fate. The whole rehire was bizarre and unprecedented.

Tepper would like to put his stamp on the team and being forced to keep that statue at the stadium, I'm sure pisses him off. Opinions........

Ole Hurn Dog has nothing to do with the statue, but nice to see that everything keeps coming back to that, also, nice to see somebody besides Trump being blamed for everything...

But more on point, Tepper does not seem like the kind of guy to fire somebody without cause, or because of a nonrelated issue. I think Tepper gives Hurney enough rope to hang himself with and will make a move if needed.

He shouldn’t be judged by just one off-season anyway, good or bad. Even after the season, draft picks and FA signees “status” could change dramatically. Can’t fully judge a draft after one year. Remember how good the 2014 draft looked after one year. 2015 looked bad after 2 years. Now it’s pretty good.

When you have a long resume for someone you’re evaluating, you don’t just look at the last job. I would ask why you were fired from this exact job before? What did you do to improve your skills in between the time you were fired then re-hired? Were you offered a similar position with another organization?

Hurney did get Cam weapons but crapped the bed for our offensive line.

I’d say he should get part of the blame if the Panthers stagger.

Totally off base unless you think Hurney should have replaced Ryan. Losing Norwell was Gettleman's fault for not locking him up sooner if anyones fault and Gettleman also signed Kalil. With the little cap space we had, we had few moves we could make with so many defensive and offensive holes to fill at other positions.

I don't see anyone on the football side being dumped this season, but to be clear, executives are not as safe as coaching staff.

It'd be an awful lot of trouble to replace a coach this time of year. An executive, even a GM, not as much.

Barring a losing season (at least one without a playoff appearance that is), Hurney's job is safe. And the guy is doing a good job so far.

I'm not sure anyone could fix a lack of offensive weapons AND the offensive line in the same off-season with the money he had available. He fixed the weapons first and if they work, they should give Cam quicker outs and relieve some of the pressure on the o-line.

I  don't know

Neither do I. I do think the coaching staff has a bit longer leash than anyone else, but I also think Tepper, while willing to be patient, absolutely will not sit around listening to the same song and dance. Consistent winning is what he wants and repeating our historical pattern will not be acceptable to him.

So crap on Hurney, but Give Gettleman a pass? Come on SACA, Gettleman is long gone. There's no need to defend him anymore. The O-line is largely his fault. There's little that Hurney could have done about the O-line this season.
