Cam IS on the hot seat!

Okay, looking at the NFC South, there really ISN'T a QB on the hotseat here. All four are entrenched and no one in their right mind would ditch a one of them. Winston might be looking like a moron but he is still a better option than what half the teams in the league are fielding. In my opinion, the only one that is a question as a starter for the 2019 season for his team would be Drew Brees and that is only if he decides to retire.

Cam, barring an injury is safe. There is no hotseat for him and only someone reaching wildly for a story would assume so. Cam could have statistically the worst season of his career and would still be the doubtless starting QB. His potential, his face of the franchise set up, his skill set and even his contract all dictate that. Cam is basically our QB1 for as long as he chooses to be so. He could do a Julius Peppers someday and want to see different pastures, but I don't even see that as I think Cam is much more comfortable of the spotlight than Pep was back in the day.

Really, though, an editor gathered up his writers and assigned each of them the "which QB is on the hotseat in your division" article for the offseason and said "make it a click grabber."

I’d say it’s safe to say Winston is on the hot seat. He’s put himself in a precarious spot with the league office and brought a lot of negative publicity to the Bucs. His rookie contract is also coming to an end. Are they willing to ink that guy to a big new contract making him the face of the franchise and basically hooking the organization to that wagon?

It wouldn’t surprise me a bit if they went QB early in the draft next year.

This makes a lot of sense. Winston might actually pull his head out of his butt and look around if there was some competition. Of course, it's better for the Panthers if he doesn't mature any.

I honestly think Cam is too hellbent on actually passing the ball when we run passing plays. Cam very rarely scrambles these days except for trying to buy time to throw. The vast majority of his rushing yardage comes on called runs. If he’d actually scramble more often it would make him harder to blitz. Teams blitz us relentlessly because they know Cam will hold onto the ball trying to buy time to find a receiver instead of bailing and running.

Yes I have watched plenty of games when i wanted Cam to just take off instead of waiting for someone to come open only to drop the pass.
