Cam IS on the hot seat!

No one who watched Cam in that Saints playoff game would say he had a down year. He was dropping dimes. His receivers sucked. He has NFL caliber receivers now. Game on.

That game raised my hopes for this year significantly, even though we lost, much like the Seattle playoff game in the 14 season.

Cam has already been successful with lesser talent. It isn’t an excuse for being unsuccessful, so what he said makes no sense. Cam was league MVP with nothing around him. We hope Norv helps him get back there with more weapons.

The coaching staff will be on the hot seat if they can’t provide help for Cam.

I agree, the coaching will and should be on the hot seat, not that they are the reason for Cam's accuracy problem.  I have come to accept that Cam is a unique talent, that will not fit the current QB mold.  Flaws and all, Cam is our best option at QB.

lmfao.

this right here is what’s gonna happen sadly. we’re not going to do well because our o-line will be bad and Norv will turn out to be a fraud and revert to his predictable 1980s playcalling while Cam takes all the blame because he’s not Superman and the Hulk in one body all the time.

We have questions on the o-line. Norv could turn out to be as bad as he was in Minnesota and be predictable + call ISO routes all the time. But Cam will get all the blame despite him being far and away the best player on offense, and it’s sad.

I don't agree with everything you say Saca but I believe there is truth in this statement. I get the feeling this will be a growing topic/debate as the season goes on and if things aren't going as planned. I also could see the Hurney hate for not providing enough talent turning back up.

Hopefully Norv turns out to be all that he is being hyped up to be around here. He was overwhelmingly hated in Minnesota and SD for his predictable play calling (sounds familiar) but such is the life of most OCs. Will be interesting to watch how things develop.

I think it is fair to believe that this is an important year for Cam. It appears as though he has greater weapons than in years past. Furthermore, Shula and his system along with a lack of weapons, rightly or wrongly, tended to be offered as the reason for much of the offense's inconsistency (especially when Cam was not running).

The accuracy of that analysis will be put to the test this season. I am optimistic (not my natural state). However, there is a tinge of doubt that creeps in when I harken back to the fact that Cam has exceeded the 60% completion rate only twice in his career. I think it becomes harder and harder and increasingly dangerous to make up for accuracy issues with mobility.

The good news is that one of those 60%+ years was his rookie season when he was using a system derived from the same system used by Turner. I believe he also exceeded 4000 yards that same season for the only time in his career. If he can reduce the interceptions, good and maybe great things await. I can't wait.

As much as I don't like David Newton, he semi has a point. You are confusing being the while offense with his point of being a quarterback. For years he hasn't had weapons or a competent OC, so what Mr David Newton is saying pretty much is..we went out and got one of the best OC in the history of the game and have surrounded Cam with a ton of talent... If he can't succeed with what we have now, what are the excuses?

Just because as a fan base people love Cam, doesn't mean you can ignore the fact that our quarterback has accuracy issues, which he's had since college, but by 8 years in the league, he should have fixed that by now. Hopefully all theyeats of excuses were correct and this year he sky rockets.fingers crossed

For those people it will be but ______ was injured (Kalil, Olsen), Moore didn't put up 1k yards (as a rookie), we lost Norwell etc etc. Cam is never the issue.

I love Cam and think he can be great and I don't know whether it's the fact this franchise has never had a great QB or what but people seem to think unless the Panthers have Cam, they can't win. Players will come and go but a great franchise will always find ways to win. Cam won't last forever and the post-era will come, that doesn't mean the Panthers will have a losing one.

This thread might get messy.

Ill put in my stand.  Cam goes, i go.

Not that anyone cares.

We get it. Cam has brought a lot of fanboys to the Panthers and as much as I love Cam, seeing the fanboys cleansed out after his departure will be a positive thing for the Panthers, who are better off building a fanbase vs. collecting fan boys. But for now, we'll both root for the panthers.

When cams time is up, its up i understand that.  What im saying is basically the way he is playing now if he was to be moved for any reason i would loose faith that the orginization had any clue what they were doing.

Fanboy.   Lmao.

This is all what ifs tho.  I think everyone here understands that nothing like this would happen considering considering how well he has played.

You would think Winston would be #1.

yeah, I mean poo, there has already been talk about cutting winston because he's just not worth the money he will demand as a starting QB. Newton is on a very salary cap friendly contract and likely on the least hot seat, he will be in the league longer than Bress or Ryan just because of his age alone.

truely stupid article from david newton
