What they’re saying...

Sorry Igo, I stole your thread caption. Since you haven’t used it in a while I figured it was fair game. Ok folks, I got curious because I haven’t had that pregame adrenaline rush in a while. You know, the one where you feel like you’re gonna throw up right before kick off? Went to our divisional rivals boards just to get a quick glimpse of what they’re saying in the off season about the ol Panthers. I’m sorry I don’t have time to quote each link and give my 2 cents on every Einstein made comment, but here’s some quick links. With training camp right around the corner, I couldn’t wait any longer. You don’t need any pre workout, just read these. Should be enough to get you pumped up. Let the ass kicking commence boys.

New Orleans

https://saintsreport.com/threads/nfc-south-why-the-panthers-offense-didnt-work-film-study.385703/ By far the board with the most off season talk about the Panthers/NFC South.

Atlanta

Literally everyone over there is crying about Julio missing Matt Ryan’s camp. Nothing on the Panthers.

Tampa Bay

https://www.pewterreport.com/forums/topic/2018-nfc-south/  This is more laughable than trash talk, though Tampa has a good defense possibly, at least on paper.

Lol at Tampa. One guy even said Winston is a better QB than Cam. I stopped reading after that.

I check the Saints board thread daily, even joined but haven't posted yet.  check the Falcons board every other day, and the Bucs board about every week in the off season.

My analysis of their boards this summer.

Saints board has the best discussion on our division.  They are very confidant, feel they are loaded, and expect to play in the NFC championship game.  They respect us, but feel they'll win all games against us until our secondary proves otherwise.  They hate Cam, but respect his abilities.  The hate the Falcons the most.

Falcons board is a mess....they are really concerned about the Julio contract, and I was surprised to find how many were ready to trade him and trust in their rookie.  Lot of talk about "the brotherhood" and how Julio has disrespected his team mates.  They also feel their roster is loaded, and hope in his second year Sark will get things right.  They don't consider us a threat.  They are REALLY concerned about Julio.

Bucs board about as successful as their football team.  Not much activity,  but I was really surprised at how many and how passionate people were about getting rid of Winston.  They are proposing trades, don't won't to extend, even a thread on boycotting the team until they cut Winston.

I went a couple pages on the Bucs board and while many defend our LB Corps a lot of them aren't so positive.

This was just a sample.   They will have a pretty good front 7.   I would still take ours over theirs.

Kuechly gets overrated as a “QB of the defense”. I am not saying he’s bad. My point is relative to our unit vs their unit. And our unit is better. Nothing personal to anyone on this Buc fan’s website. Our front seven has the potential to be pretty special.

If I am an aints fan I’m confident too...a bad luck play away from nfc champ game and they would have assuredly given Philly a better game...maybe could have beaten them

with them it’s mostly about Brees...he was really, really good LY...can he repeat it?

I mean it's Drew Brees. As long as he has a pulse the saints have a shot at winning every game he's in.

    • his height, size and arm will forever cause problems and limitations...that is what it is.  I think to a degree, the law of averages is just coming into play a bit with him.  So as he plays more and more, you just flat out get the decent days mixed in too.  Which is just going to happen.
    • Good point. He's definitely better in 10-15 yards. I think that's his biggest improvement. But he wasn't 3-10 +15, he was 3-7, with at least one drop (minor but still). And with multiple passes at 14 yards completed. This passing chart doesn't look like at By one, lol. He threw more "deep" passes than Mahomes (NOT comparing him to Mahomes in a skill way lol), or at least more beyind 10 yards.
    • Karlaftis and Danna have been pretty inconsistent so teams have been doubling Jones and able to contain their pass rush.   But the good thing is that yesterday, we schemed well against Steve Spags Defense, Canales married the surrounding personnel with his QB through play designs within his comfort zone and was able to get downfield at will.  He was able to execute higher difficulty throws and look a lot more comfortable.  It tells me that Canales has a good system in mind, and had an edge gameplanning wise against Spagnuolo - which is nice to see.  It's a bit to see-saw at times with either going way too pass heavy or way too run heavy, but I think he's finding out what works.  It takes time to have it come together, and sure, I could see regression happen against a better front-7, but this was good for the entire system gelling.
