I will never understand his hiring. He is an absolutely horrible announcer. At times he borders on incomprehensible. Even when comprehensible there was an amateur hour quality to his play by play descriptions.

Mixon is a good radio personality, he's just not meant for play by play. This has been a 14 season mistake by JR.

Mixon originally was a color analyst, and it wasn't even for football. It was basketball. UNC specifically, as I recall.

When the Panthers hired him, he was not only changing duties. He was changing sports.

All that said, he's pretty well-entrenched now. Whether people like it or not, he's the voice of the Panthers. And he and Eugene and Jim Szoke work pretty well together.

Barring something unexpected, I just don't see that changing.

Am I the only one who thought Jim Szoke does a better job than Mixon. I remember when I listened to him during pre-season last year, I feel he was ALOT better
