Mozgov/Stone Traded for Biyombo(!!)

Biz and Willy should start. Zeller off the bench. Frank gets traded away

Honestly, I feel like both Frank and MKG are on the block. I would still start Zeller due to his screens and ability to switch. Our second unit also is lacking on defense bc assuming Lamb starts and Monk is 6th man, a second unit of Parker & Monk will not be that good at stopping dribble drives and would need Biz to protect the rim.

Not a bad trade.

Biyombo replaces Howard as the rim proctor that the Hornets seem to be infatuated with and he also has chemistry with some of the guys on roster.

Not sure if anyone followed the Magic last year but Vucevic was hurt for a month or so and they gave Biyombo some starts.

When Biyombo averaged 20+ minutes a game he was averaging 10.5 points and 8.4 rebounds (someone needs to fact check me on this but I believe my math is correct).

Agree, this is not a bad move.  We weren't going to us Mozgov..at all.

Next steps are obvious:

Prophecy: Trade Kemba & Lamb to the Blazers for Harkless & McCollum, add Zion+Draymond Green will eventually take us to the promised land.

2019: Parker-McCollum-Zion-Green-Zeller, 2nd unit Graham-Monk-Bacon-Bridges-Hernnn will lead us to the promised land.

It appears that Kupchak values second round picks more than Cho did as Biyombo is coming over along with two additional second rounders.

Since Kupchak took over, the Hornets have acquired a 2018 2nd round pick (Hamidou Diallo, who was later traded away), two 2019 2nd round picks, two 2020 2nd round picks, and two 2021 2nd round picks.

The Hornets did trade one of their own 2019 2nd round picks along with a 2023 2nd round pick for Graham, but obviously Kupchak decided to recoup the 2019 pick.

It looks like Kupchak may like having two 2nd rounders so he can package them to move up higher into the second round to get a faller (i.e. Graham).

    • We could easily pick apart yesterday’s game: dropped passes, blown coverages, bad tackling and red zone issues to name a few. But it was clear that this wasn’t the same team from earlier in the season. They fought back and hung with the champs until the end. That’s what I was excited to see and it gives me hope that we’re on the right track.
    • I think BY played well today and exceeded expectations. I will temper future expectations as he has to string together many games of consistent quality. One game doesn’t convince me that he is a franchise QB or even a guy you want to stick with for another season. One game doesn’t erase all the negative play and limitations from the past couple of years. I hope he balls out and continues to get better but for me the verdict is still out   That said, I think he gave the team and fans hope yesterday which is a lot more than what we had when we woke up Sunday morning.
    • He was vastly improved today and we need to see more of Bryce the rest of the season to continue evaluate him in order to decide what the heck to do with him at the end of the season. He must play at least like this and improve more from here the rest of the season in order for me to keep him. No more 123 yard passing games and want to see at least this output weekly from him. If this is Bruce improving slowly over time then Canales is even better with developing QB's than I thought he was but still too early to tell and we need to see him the rest of the way as he has at very least earned back the starting gig moving forward.
