Boardwalk Empire was another last season rush job.

Yes it was.  It needed two final seasons and only got one.  Meanwhile, The Sopranos had too many in my opinion.  Another of my favorites (Big Love) had a rushed penultimate season and then they stumbled to the finish.  Maybe that is why I am not as upset as so many on this season of Game of Thrones.  I have seen this happen to better shows before.

That is what I was thinking.  Although Viserys died from hot gold and Jon burnt his hand on a lantern.

Nah Jon already burnt the poo out of his hand when they recovered the first wights at the wall. On a lantern.

Of course, the writers could forget that, or dying could have changed him. But, I think Dany is the only one that is "unburnt" and it was because of the blood magic.

That is what I was thinking.  Or maybe the fact that he knows his identity awakened his ability or something (that one is more far-fetched)

Just came across a post from somewhere that accurately predicted every major beat last episode before it came out, and predicts what happens in the finale.

I should've stuck with my initial theory of what would happen lol bc it IS what will happen.  If that post holds true, I will be happy with the ending.  I can share if you all want.

I'm down.

So some "leaks" have come out that clarify the previous "leaks" for the final episode.

Jon, Tyrion, Davos and others survey the damage. Tyrion finds Jaime's hand and they confirm Cersei and Jaime died.

Grey Worm and his crew have some Lannister men surrounded. They start killing them, and Jon wants them to stop. Grey Worm confirms that it is Dany's command. Tyrion tries to convince Jon that he'll never be safe.

We get her "speech" scene. She talks about freeing the city, and wanting to free the world. At one point, we see her with Drogon behind her, wings spread, and it is shot in a way that makes her look like Dany has dragon wings. She calls Tyrion out as a traitor, to which he responds that she murdered thousands of innocent people. He throws his hand pin in disgust, and she orders him taken prisoner.

Jon again attempts to reason with Dany in the throne room, as she sits on the iron throne. She won't hear it, so he feigns agreement, gets close, and stabs her. Drogon gets a little enraged and melts the iron throne. Jon submits himself to Grey Worm and is also taken prisoner.

With Dany gone, Sansa is somewhat in charge. There is a council.

There is discussion about what is to be done with Tyrion and Jon. Sansa wants Jon freed immediately, and Grey Worm refuses. Tyrion comes before the council and suggests that the new Queen or King should decide Jon's fate. On the subject, Sam suggests they "elect" a new leader. Tyrion says that is a stupid idea, but they do anyways. Bran is chosen as leader.

Bran names Tyrion his hand (not sure if they actually have a trial for Tyrion now, it is looking less likely.) Tyrion informs Jon that his punishment is to have to go back to the Wall/North. Grey Worm accepts this fate, but does not bend the knee to Bran. The Unsullied leave Westeros, intent on carrying out Dany's wishes to free slaves/oppressed people all over the world.

Tyrion aids Bran in forming his new council. Davos is named Shipmaster. Bronn (YEAH!) is the new master of coin AND ruler of Highgarden. Sam is the new Grand Maester. Brienne is the new Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. Yara is Lord of the Iron Islands. Robyn Arryn is Lord of the Vale. Gendry is Lord of Storm's End. Yohn Royce is Lord of Runestone. Pod will basically be Bran's personal assistant (wheeling him around, defending him, etc.) Tyrion is still looking for masters of law and whispers.

Sam mentions Drogon has been sighted somewhere, and Bran says he'll "look into it."

Jon says goodbye to Sansa and Arya. Sansa's going home. Arya says that she's going to sail West, because that is where "no one" has ever been.

Closing montage of Arya on a ship, Jon reuniting with Tormund, Ghost, and some wildlings and heading north of the wall, and Sansa ruling at Winterfell.

To be fair, I don't think that sounds terrible. It is somewhat anticlimactic or whatever, but I could see how they do it justice. It does fit the descriptions of being somewhat "bittersweet."

Only one episode to go :(

As of right now when I think about what show this compares to the only thing that comes to mind is LOST.  Both were super popular, well written shows that just fell on their face at the end(though for very different reasons). If you enjoy the show for the spectacle of it all -  the big battles, big dragons, etc - then great.  But I fell in love with this show in season 1 which had absolutely none of that.  No matter what happens in the finale they have ruined the show.

Bronn's spoilers are the exact bullet points I found in the screenshot.  I posted it last night in the thread, but for some reason, I couldn't hide the image in the spoiler tags.

I'm mostly happy with that ending.  And through the first 3 or 4 episodes, my prediction was Jon was going to kill Dany and then I read a theory somewhere else that Jon's ultimate fate would be returning to the wall (although when I read that theory, they were predicting it to be with Dany alive and ruling).  So, I pieced my theory with that one and figured that much out...  E5 threw me off the trail a bit, and I started leaning more towards Arya killing Dany, but I like it being Jon better.  He is my favorite character, and he gets a final heroic, noble act before being sent back to the wall.  It's bittersweet that he can't stay and take leadership in the 7 kingdoms, but he never wanted it, so the next best thing I figured is reuniting with Tormund and Ghost, so that's cool.

And then recently, another one of my friends threw out the idea that they would end up setting up a council instead of one ruler.  So, it's interesting to see it all come together.

Where to start?  I was finally able to see this episode last night....was out of the country for a bit.

Not really sure where I am on it to be honest.

I thought that the killing of Jamie and Cersei just simply wasn't good enough, they both deserved more.

Euron's was OK, but just felt stupid I guess.

Didn't like that the Hound had to go out like that, would much prefer to see him back in the North protecting Sansa, who I assume will rule the North by herself.

Figured Jon would sit on the throne, and maybe have Gendry as his hand?  Maybe Arya?

If Arya makes it, and I hope she does, I really have no idea what is to come of her character.

All in all, liked it, but if you were a fan of how plodding the first 4/5 seasons were, this just feels way too fast.

I did like that Dany figured out how to actually use the dragons...not so much burn stuff, but how to fly them without making herself look so much like a sitting duck.

All in all, the wheel is broken, and I think it will end up being Jon's responsibility to try to piecemeal it all back together somehow.

Love the show, it's still the best TV show I have ever watched, but I do wish they had slowed things down a bit at the end.

    • The retirement thing is just a convenient excuse from Tepper. I'm sure if the team was trying to bring him on officially he would do it in a heartbeat and the league wouldn't bat an eye at it. He's not getting any other calls and we know there's a direct line of communication. You telling me no other team has put up a photo of an active player who left? I have a hard time believing the league would flag a MVP display, literal team history, as tampering. Moving on from JR is clearly bull too when we're parading Luke and Smitty around. It's Cam. Tepper knows that if Cam is brought on in any capacity, as long as he looks athletic to the average fan there's going to pressure to put him in when we're struggling at QB. They've decided he's not worth that but I think is a huge mistake. The organization stands to lose more burning this bridge than he does.
    • I've been here through it all my friend. So when I say I've seen how this turns out folks really should listen. But they won't. So I continue to be entertained by fair weather fans that talk down to me as if I don't know squat. That's fine. Their in for some painful reality checks.
    • Because Chinn Is not a God Damn Free Safety! He is a Strong Safety/LB and none of our coaches could figure that out.
