The leaks weren't 100%.  Mentioned nothing about Last Hearth IIRC.  Those scenes were well done and creepy af.

Yeah they botched that whole Edd/Tormund section at the Last Hearth. They had called it Castle Black and even had the Night King showing up or whatever, and calling dead Ned Umber "symbols."

That's the beauty of spoilers, though. Especially when they come from someone who doesn't witness them first hand and English isn't their first language.

That scene was creepy af indeed.

Theory...Rhaegar Targaryen is the night king...

2 reasons...

His wife Elia and their children were murdered by Ser Gregor Clegane and Ser Amory Lorch during the sack of King's Landing. Amory dragged the screaming girl, Rhaenys, from under her father's bed and stabbed her to death. Gregor, whom Rhaegar had knighted, killed the infant Aegon by dashing his head against the wall while his mother watched. He then raped and killed Elia while still covered in the blood and brains of her son.[34][35] Meanwhile, Jaime Lannister killed Rhaegar's father, King Aerys, to prevent the wildfire plot, earning himself the Kingslayer sobriquet.

Remember  the hounds comment to the mountain in episode 7 of season 7.  “You know who is coming for you, you’ve always known”.

Also explains the NKs interactions with Jon to some extent.

He appears pretty comfortable riding the dragon, not to mention having a weapon that kills them.  Hmm.

Thoughts?

I've always thought the Hound was speaking of himself, knowing he's likely the only person that could conceivably take Gregor out in a sword fight, but the way they play with these vague statements on the show, it could absolutely be a reference to the Night King, now that the Hound has seen that the White Walkers are real.  I still think the writers will go for fan service, meaning the Clegane Bowl happening sometime in the next five episodes, rather than Rhaegar being the Night King, but it could happen.

There IS a theory out there that Rhaegar didn't die on the Trident. When he was killed, he was wearing ruby encrusted armor. When Robert's hammer caved in his breastplate, the rubies were scattered in the waters.

Rubies in ASOIAF have been shown to aid in magical powers, especially "glamour" magic as seen on the show by Melisandre. When she removes her ruby necklace, her true form is revealed to be the centuries old woman.

The theory goes that Rhaegar was never fighting Robert on the Trident, and that it was someone "glamouring" as him.

In the books, "glamouring" is more of a thing. On the show, not so much. I've often wondered if Jaqen's ability to use Arya's face and switch his face without actually putting another face on is "glamouring" and not so much the game of faces as is portrayed.

I think if Rhaegar was alive, though, we'd know it already via someone else on the show/in the books like Varys or Littlefinger.

I think the Hound is coming for the Mountain.

As for the Night King's identity... I'd have to lean towards the 13th Lord Commander, and/or a Stark ancestor.

Thanks for the background Brown.  Yeah, I figured I wasn’t the first on any of this...pretty much every theory that can be imagined has been put forward atp.  Can’t wait to see this unfold.  The Jon/Dani angle is getting really interesting now.  Will Jon betray her?  Sold that Tyrion is definitely going betray Dani and was sided with the Lannister’s all along.

The whole bow gun thing might have been to test Bronns loyalty but that threw me a little.

I saw someone on another page mention that the recurring symbol the Others keep leaving is very similar to the Targaryen sigil. I wonder if there's anything to that.

I don't really buy that one. It is similar, yes.

To me, I'd guess the following about the symbolism...

1. It's a storm. Simple and plain.
2. It is a galaxy. Not sure what the purpose would be in the story, though.
3. It represents all gods leading back to one, central god, which is death. Death is a big part of most major religions, and each arm on the symbol could represent a face of the "Many Faced God" of the Faceless men leading back to the central idea that Death is the only god.

Pretty good episode, even though I knew what was going to happen. The Hound and Bronn are still my favorite characters.

E2 is more of a grey area. I haven't read many specific spoilers for that episode.

It appears as though Jaime will have some answering to do. I'm hoping Brienne speaks up on his behalf.

I'd guess Bronn is going to bring Cersei's offer to Tyrion, but I don't know how Tyrion doubles whatever vague offer that was that Qyburn offered him. Who knows, though? Maybe he's had his fill of dragons and he might just gtfo of Dodge now.

I might have missed it, but I'm not sure how Arya knew Jon got stabbed in the heart. Maybe Bran told her? I dunno *shrugs*

E3 is going to be the Battle of Winterfell, so we've got to have some more buildup to that. I suspect we'll see Tormund and co. make it back in E2. At some point they dig a big trench outside Winterfell, so maybe we'll see that.

I think Bran will confront Jaime then let it go because he knows Jaime will help the cause...

Or he could have Arya kill Jaime... 50/50 :)

I do not know if there is anything to back this up, but yesterday my brother said he thinks The Hounds "you know who is coming for you" refers to Arya and that it will turn out that when he was a boy he saw a young girl killing his brother in the fire.  He told his brother and it was that, and not a toy, that pissed The Mountain off and caused him to burn The Hound's face.  It would certainly be an interesting twist, but I do not think that it will happen.

Something that struck me while reading about the dragon/Targaryen mythology is how much George Martin basically stole from other writers. Anne McCaffrey in the case of the dragon mythology. I'm sure he's not the only one, but damn.

“Stealing ideas” happens in all medium.  Just does.
