Which part didn't you understand? He summed it up pretty well and then you slipped right back into your same fallacy.

My fallacy, huh? Ha

Are you referring to the semantics of the word need? Is that what you think makes your post valid?

I grew up in a home without a male figure. I played sports. My mom needed the athletes I looked to as role models to help fill that void. Is she a bad parent?

It's exactly what makes my post valid. I can't help that you're getting overly emotional about this and taking it as a direct attack on you. That was never the intention.

Kids do need role models outside of the home. I hope mine play sports and I absolutely have no problem if they look to athletes in those sports as role models. At some point if those athletes' behaviors don't mesh with how I raise my kids, then as the primary role model I'll talk to them about it and use it as a teaching moment.

From his post this would mean I am a bad parent. I strongly disagree with his generalizing statement. So I made one that was equally as ridiculous.

The difference being that your kids doesn't need athletes as role models because you are there to talk to them. His point, at least how I read it, was referring to parents who are not as engaged and wouldn't use an athlete's negative behavior as a teaching moment. Just my 2¢

I don't take it that way at all. I just disagree with your statement and I'm trying to understand it. Of course using my frame of reference to try and make sense of it is all I have to go by.

Are the single moms who need Cam as a role model for their kids bad parents? Is that a better way to put it so you don't think I'm so emotional?

I think any kid who needs an athlete or celebrity who is not actively involved in his or her life to be their primary male role model isn't in the best of situations. I'm sure plenty of kids are in that situation and plenty of them will come out of it just fine, but that doesn't make it a good one.

That makes more sense and I agree with that. But do you really believe that parents who allow their kids to have athletes as role models expect that athlete to be the primary role model? I don't think so. But I could also be totally naive about that - I can't say I've ever encountered that personally.

Not good ones. I definitely grew up with some guys who it certainly seemed like that was the case for them. It was sad to see some people who I knew to have a good heart ultimately go down bad roads. None of them ended up in good places.

I mean it’s kind of a moot point because Cam himself says he is making these videos as inspriration to kids, granted he’s targeting kids in really rough situations I think, but he’s doing it as a role model.

You can argue that effectiveness, but not if he’s a role model or not.

I think Greg Olsen is.

What's your point?

Edit: good lord that is a dumb question

Check out Greg's rap from his Miami hurricanes days. Much more offensive than Cam's message. I think they both do great things for kids,  could care less about the video and the rap is hilarious.

Great, now FNZ is whining about the video on the mid day show. Josh Parcell (who I am guessing has to be a Patriots fan) is talking about how Gronk is a super bowl winner and not a QB so we shouldn't care what he does. And went on some rant about Cam not making the right decisions during the Super Bowl, yadda yadda yadda. What a joke.

FNZ is garbage - the cam video is low hanging fruit for morons, which is exactly why FNZ is crying about it.

Cam catches more grief for using "bad words" on a video or an illegal laptop , dresses funny and cause he's just a little too brash for some people than Crablegs or Big Ben do for being accused of sexual assault. Cam does a ton  of good things for kids and charities...even if he did "gasp in horror" use the f word(oh no!!!) when most kids these days have their nose stuck in the iPad watching all kinds of YouTube vids...memes (all kinds of crap with cuss words and nastiness that's way to mature for them) ...given to them so they stay distracted enough to avoid annoying their parents to you know actually play with them and give them attention...but oh no Cams video might poison their mind???Holy snikies...Our QB has never gotten in trouble, or charged or arrested for anything whilst representing our team and city ...he's big into helping unfortunate kids and had been for a long time with very little praise or coverage about that side of him. The moral police by all means keep going at him...but to quote T.O "That's my quarterback" and I'm "DUCKING" proud he is
