No UDFA Hype this year

we'll see. If the Cowboys hang 40 on us we're in trouble. Time will tell.

Not really.

Getting off to a bad start doesn't mean we are in trouble for the season, just like getting off to a great start doesn't mean we will be great the whole season.  Players will get injured, rookies will improve, new players might be brought in.  The team will change as the season rolls along, just like it did last year and pretty much  every year.

I'm still rooting for Efe Obada at DE.

I’ve always wondered what people mean when they say they are rooting for a particular fringe player.

do you just like his story or something? Reason I ask because if he is GOOD, he will make the team.

I guess what I am saying is I’m rooting for the best players to make the team.

I regularly work with a large number of ex-NFL players in Houston and Dallas.  One day, I was talking to a guy who runs an NFL training facility who helps players prepare for the NFL.  This includes both position specific training, as well as training for the combine and other events.

Anyway, one day this guy gets talking about a player he was working with who was the biggest physical freak he had ever worked with.  He said this kid had all the physical tools in the world, just lacks the playing experience because he has never played in a real game before.  If you look at his measurables (6'6" 265lbs, 83 inch wingspan, running a 4.63 40 with a 1.53 10 yard split) he is better than any prospect in the draft.  I asked who he was talking about and he said Efe Obada.

One year later Obada shows up in Carolina.  I am pretty excited to see if he can learn the game.  I know he has all the physical tools.  It is just mental at this point.  I am really interested to see how his story line plays out.

His status last year pretty much barred him from playing with anyone in the league as he was our international waiver.

I have heard other things like this and hopefully he pans out.   I am, at minimum, hoping he clears waivers and goes back on the PS.   I think there is a spot for him to take on the DL if he can play up to his above potential.

What a find it would be.

Pay attention.   Usually there is one or two that stands out after the draft and UDFA signing.

I was talking about who, if any, has shown they might push for a spot.

I have paid attention, not sure you have.
