Dexter: Season 4 (spoilers)

Last night was one of the best episodes of the entire series. I was going to start a thread about it.

I'm not sold that Lundy is down for good. I realize the books mean absolutely nothing, but humor me and pretend it might for once. Possible, although unlikely spoilers below.

I predicted the shooting because they are starting to use the books again. I've been noticing the Kyle Chutsky/Lundy connection since the very beginning. In the books, Deb gets shot and Kyle teams up with Dex to get the shooter. Kyle aka Lundy is also in retirement mode (because of injuries/mental) and calls in favors to help track the killer/shooter down.

They may not go that far, but they've been hinting at it all along. The conversation about being "the same" (at the crime scene) last week was pretty big. Once they showed Lundy's face to Trinity I knew it would lead to Deb.

I don't actually predict that he lives though. I think they'd rather use their own twist. I think he's a goner and Dex will use Lundy's previous work to catch Trinity instead. It will become personal for Deb and she'll support Dex killing Trinity. That will make her question herself and understand Dex better.

Lundy would have to fake his death then because of the scenes from episode 5 up on sho.com right now. Deb may go through Lundy's notes from 'unresolved' cases of his and find some strange notes taken about Dexter.

I'm about 99.9% sure Lundy knew exactly who and what Dexter was. Dex and Lundy and Trinity are all very similar. That's what that conversation really meant to me. Dexter always seems to be exploring the alternate paths he could have taken in life if not for Harry.

I'm pretty sure Lundy's dead but Dex will take Trinity personal now and start gunning for him instead of just admiring him from the shadows...but really, there's no telling what's going to happen. There are still 8 episodes left, 2/3rds of the season.

But yeah, last night's episode was one of my favorites. The whole thing sizzled with the exception of the minor relationship BS. I even had a big lol when Angel and Laguerta both confided in Dexter.

Dexie is the idiot savant of couples therapy apparently. lol

Keep in mind I haven't read the books though.

Easily one of the best episodes ever. Hopefully the terrible relationships between Laguerta/Angel and Deb/Anton/Lundy/Random guy will tone down some and focus on Dex. It was good to see him actually focus on a victim and get a kill once. The lady cop last night gave me a boner.

I guess it did feel like a send off for Lundy. Deb officially gets on the case and takes him back. Farewell bang for dramatic effect. Now he is no longer needed since he isn't actually Kyle. They use the book outline without making Dex and Lundy knowingly work together, which was probably too much for the show anyways after last season's friend experiment with Miguel. I doubt he'll actually work with Deb, she'll be in the hospital for a while.

I'm sold that she'll find out about Dex by the end of the season now because of this. The big thing in the book was how could Deb go on as a cop after asking Dex to kill someone. She's never okay with Dex being what he is, but after that event it brought them back together. Maybe the twist will be that she has to go outside of the books to kill Trinity.

I'm thinking it was the vacation murderer. They were leaving a hotel, like the other killings. It looked like the killer took Lundy's wallet and watch. In the episode where Quinn steals the money Batista says something like "They took his watch and his wallet's empty." The question to me is...is the Trinity Killer actually the vacation murderer as well? I don't think so, because all we know now is that he has a cycle and it's important to him - how he punishes himself after each murder. The only thing that gives me any doubt about this being the vacation murderer is that the killer didn't make sure Deb was dead. I just can't see Anton doing this.

Awesome episode. And the real start of an awesome season.

I just assumed they were the same, but you have a good point. I guess it points to Quinn huh? So could Quinn have killed Lundy for some reason? That'd be a hell of a twist.

Okay, finally saw the trailer for next week and the scenes on sho.com. Lundy is undoubtedly dead. At least this thread let me make sense of it first. Boo, lame, sucky sucky, fail, oh well.

It was Trinity who killed Lundy, IMO. He grabbed a wallet or w/e in Lundy's pocket to make it look like a robbery. The fact is Trinity was sh*tting in his pants when he saw Lundy at the office building and it's not far fetched to think he stalked him and shot him in the street.

I also think that the tapes Lundy were recording will end up being key, they'll lead Dexter to Trinity.

Yeah, it probably wasn't Quinn. Lithgow said there was an extra surprise with his character near the end that's gonna surprise people, so I'm going a little nuts with my theories. He could be making it look like the vacation killer since he plans everything out. Imagine if the cases are related because Quinn and Lithgow are. I just blew my own mind. (JK)

What do you guys think of the reporter being the vacation killer? Bonus reasoning for getting info about the case and getting on closed crime scenes? Also, making trouble for the dept in the paper.

I thought they'd already proved the vacation murderer is the guy that shot at Laguerta and Angel, after Dexter found his blood at one of the scenes.

But you really never know with this show.

Oh yeah, definitely Trinity that killed Lundy. He can't be caught before he comes full circle now can he?

We were speculating if the vacation murderer also was the one who shot Lundy and Deb...

    • This thread generated more than I expected.  Hmmm.  I like a good discussion, but you are all wrong unless you agree with me and I am right.  I recall when we had Cam nut huggers on here and that was fine because he was a Panther.  Now some are hugging on Sanders.  He is a talent, but my point was, he takes a beating. His daddy has been heavy in the portal, has some great athletes, but still can't get a dominant team on the field.  His son is sacked a LOT.  In the NFL, that makes for a short career.  Starter---blue tent---IR---uber driver.
    • He took a kill shot from an unblocked free rusher who might as well have announced he was coming. He looked like Bryce young out there: Bryce in the nfl I mean
    • Uh oh somebody must be upset about that "Panthers don't know how to run a team post of yours" where I questioned curious to know how you know so much and are qualified perhaps? Projecting or not Deon is a walking talking issue currently and in my opinion as shown by many issues in Colorado the past couple seasons. Shedur will bust and will not be the star his dad was in my opinion also but until we see it all play out, both yours and my opinion is just that; an opinion.  He is a good QB in college no doubt but when he doesn't have dad at the next level I am curious to see how it goes. I was once around Deon however briefly during the COVID era. His eldest son was with a team I was involved with in a capacity for one shortened COVID season. No problem with his boy but his father I could tell was an issue. Without going into details, Deon is something else entirely. Perhaps not a completely bad human being but one that can get extremely toxic and thinks the world should immediately bow to him and do his every bidding because of his own past accomplishments in football. That could get very tough if the right franchise is not found with leadership that will tell him to know his role, sit down and shut up.  Adversity does not define everything true but adversity on a football field during a season is minor compared to life adversity I've seen some other players face first hand who came from nothing and are still dealing with issues currently as they make their way through college. Football field adversity does not compare to the real world off the field and out of the locker room adversity some face. You speak as if you may know something on the subject other than what people see on television and read on the internet. What locker rooms have you been involved in or witnessed the everyday play out during the season once the high school level is passed? I have to admit my experience seeing the everyday lives play out at the NFL level is limited to former players who have gone beyond Div. 1 and I only know what is told to me by them when they return to me in off seasons and breaks so I can't fully get an idea at that level. I have however seen a few days at the college level play out and I base my opinion from the very limited I have seen out of Deon in person and yes probably biased a bit after a few of those very limited interactions but it's my opinion determined by what I have seen over the years with my own eyes out of many situations and players rather than my arm chair GM opinion based upon what I read on the internet and the statistics I see on TV. As I said, we shall see once next season plays out but the Panthers are not equipped to handle what will come with Shedur Sanders I personally believe. A team like the Detroit Lions with a coach like Dan Campbell who is not afraid to tell someone to back off, sit down and shut the hell up I could only guess will be needed when Shedur is drafted and that personality will not be needed for Shedur but for daddy.
