My parents neighbor's son just graduated from college and got married. He was flying to Europe on the honeymoon and had a flight dely/cancellation on a connecting flight. Riverboat was on the same flight and he introduced himself and did the selfie thing.

 

Right before they boarded Ron walked up and gave him a card in an envelope. He had walked to a gift shop, bought a card, signed it and put 2 $100 bills inside. The note said  congratulations, have a nice dinner on me and Keep Pounding. 

Pretty cool thing for Ron to do after a 5 minute conversation.

Riverboat Ron is borderline great. After years of predictable no alter ego John Fox I can appreciate this coach.

Nice story.

I understand some of the concern about Rivera as a coach, but I think he's got some amazing strengths as well that outweigh the negatives most of the time.

If we have a winning season this year, I think that will silence the doubters. Ron's W-L record is already very strong.  A good season this year will make it hard to criticize him, especially as it will have come following extreme organizational chaos. GM craziness. No front office. New owner, 3 new coordinators... Keeping the players focused in the midst of all that is huge. Of course he's working with generational talents Cam and Luke, and now Pep too.  But other teams have elite talent and can't put it together on the field into a coherent team.

I knew before I opened this thread, that there would be folks dissing on coach. 

It says more about them than it does our coach.

Ron is a top tier coach in the league.  

Its amazing and entertaining when  he gets trashed for being stoic and his bad player evaluation / affinity for Amini Silatolu make him dillusional  

The google is a great invention but it has its downfall.

Yeah, he's not perfect (hell, who is?) but a good chunk of fan bases would probably happily trade their coach for Ron right now, no questions asked.
