Dwight Howard Traded!

This trade is a financial one 100%. Yes, we take on the extra year of Mozgov, but with Dwight gone, we are now $13M away from the Tax line which does have value. I think we were like $6M away before. The added second round picks will likely not add up to much, but the one this year allows us to either have an extra trade chip tomorrow or add a cheap player to the roster on a non guranteed salary and the future one could be used as a trade piece down the road. 

At face value, like someone mentioned earlier, the Hornets got the worse end of the deal. Dwight is the best player in the deal so typically that favors the team (Brooklyn) that he's going to. 

BUT let's not act like Dwight fit this team. Sure he put up great stats, but his usage killed the team offensively and he played heavy minutes including crunch time. He's not valuable enough to do that anymore. Dwight off the team allows for Cody to start again and gives Hernangomez more minutes. Both are better players for us. 

Mozgov will get paid a lot of $ to ride the bench the next season plus which sucks. But at least we are below the tax line.

Agreed, from our outside perspective.  But, I'm 100% certain the team felt ge had to be dealt and his value was that bad because of his reputation.

He also didn't help things by going on ESPN last week and shitting on Charlotte, the fans, and rehashing his self-created drama in Orlando with SVG.

Again, I hate the deal, but he had to be moved.  Do i think that the best we could do?  No.  Do I think this is yet another indicator of an organization that constantly cuts its nose off to spite its face and doesn't know how to win?  Yes.  I'm used to it by now.

If those 2nd rounders are this year (no clue if details are out yet?) welcome, Duke or UNC players to sell tickets.  If we're going full blown tank mode, the starting lineup next year is going to be Joel Berry, Gary Trent, Theo Pinson, Kaminsky, and a Plumlee.

I read somewhere that one is Thursday, and the other is 2021, iirc.

At least Mosgov's expiring will be valuable after next season? Where we'll take on another bad contract because time is a flat circle.

so we now have:

• 1 overpaid forward (williams)
• 1 overpaid guard (batum)
• 1 overpaid center (mosgov)
• A sorry backup point guard (carter-williams)
• A starting forward who can't shoot (MKG)
• An all-star point guard we can't afford (walker)
• An undersized guard that may have promise (monk) but we don't know because our previous coach wouldn't play him
• 3 lanky white guys that play the same position (zeller, kaminsky, and hernangomez)
• A decent 6th man that will probably be traded (lamb)
• A draft pick jordan will screw up
• And a GM that is trying to save MJ from cap penalties by mortgaging our already depressing future.

If NCSUbpoeba can start recruiting good players, eventually one will suit up for the Hornets

And according to an "inside source" over at hornetsplanet, he says we aren't done.  He says we're still in talks to move Kemba now...  but, take it with a grain of salt bc I've rarely ever seen his musings prove to be true.

I said it early last season...  Kemba had the same demeanor when Lance was here.  He was miserable and Dwight was sucking the life out of the team.

Tade Kemba for the #8

Trade away one of those 2nds with 2 of (Marvin, Batum, MKG) but do what you can to get rid of Batum.

 

 

 

If we dont, as bad as it is now.  We havnt come close to seeing rock bottom yet.  We could possibly not trade him and he walks.  Then were sitting here handcuffed from signing freeagents because Batum, Marvin, Mozgov, etc contracts.  And we have to hope that this #11 pick comes in and has a bigger impact than Kemba has right now.
